tom-clancy-ghost-recon-wildlandsCollector’s Editions Available for Pre-order

Today, Ubisoft kicked off its E3 festivities with a brand new trailer for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands, the latest in the best-selling Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise, and unveiled the pre-order details on Xbox One, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC.

Developed by Ubisoft Paris, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands is the first military shooter set in a massive and responsive open-world, entirely playable in single-player or up to four-player co-op. Players will discover Bolivia a few years from now, a country transformed by the vicious Santa Blanca drug cartel into a narco-state.

Sent behind enemy lines, the Ghosts will have to cripple the Santa Blanca cartel’s operation, breaking alliances between the drug lords and the corrupt government, and saving the Bolivian population from the cruelty of El Sueño, Santa Blanca’s ruthless leader. To do so, players will have total freedom of choice to complete missions how they choose and watch as the world reacts to their actions.

“As part of the Tom Clancy franchise, authenticity is one of the key pillars which will bring the Wildlands to life in our latest instalment in the franchise,” said Eric Couzian, Creative Director on Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. “Our goal has been to build the Ghosts as credible Spec Ops, so players have a range of options in facing not only the deadly cartels, but also the roughness of the multifaceted Bolivian landscape. Ghosts are survivors and hunters, they can blend in all sorts of environments, leaving no trace except in the heads of their terrified enemies. We want players to feel this power.”

Furthermore, Ubisoft has also announced that the following premium editions are available for pre-order now, in addition to the standard game:

  • The Deluxe Edition, available at GAME, contains the Standard Edition and the digital Deluxe Pack, which includes: the Huntsman rifle and motorbike, 3 emblems, 3 weapon camos, 3 character customisation items, and an XP booster. The physical version of The Deluxe Edition will also include 2 extra physical items: an in-game map of Bolivia and the original soundtrack of the game.
  • The Gold Edition, available at Amazon, includes the Season Pass, giving players access to two major expansions, as well as exclusive digital content such as equipment packs, an exclusive vehicle, epic weapons, and the digital Deluxe Pack.
  • The Calavera Collector’s Case, exclusive to the Uplay Shop, includes all the equipment needed to operate as a Ghost deep inside the Bolivian wildlands to take down the vicious Santa Blanca cartel. This includes the Gold Edition alongside the Ghost’s Audio Headset replica, a fully functional headset for PlayStation 4, Xbox One* and PC. Last but not least, the Collector’s Case also contains a Santa Blanca Cartel Skull, an in-game map of Bolivia, the original soundtrack of the game, a Bolivian carrying pouch, and 3 postcards of Bolivia.

Additionally, fans who pre-order the game will also receive “The Peruvian Connection”, a bonus mission in which they will embark on a perilous journey through the high mountains of Bolivia to break the alliance between the Santa Blanca and the Peruvian Cartels.

homefront-the-revolution-boxYou say you want The Revolution, well now you know… you probably don’t.

By  Jon Ryan, IGN

For all of its problems, 2011’s Homefront introduced an interesting Red Dawn-like concept, and revisiting post-invasion America in an open-world first-person shooter format sounded promising; but this fledgling FPS franchise has let me down again. There are some genuinely good ideas in Homefront: The Revolution, but nearly every one of them comes with a big fat “but.” While initially engaging, the stealth and shooter gameplay quickly becomes tedious, the story is terrible, and a general lack of polish means Homefront: The Revolution fails to make finishing its 20-hour campaign feel worthwhile.

battlefield-1By Wesley Yin-Poole @ Eurogamer

Last week EA unveiled Battlefield 1, DICE’s new first-person shooter, with an explosive new trailer. It takes the series to World War 1, a war that saw the old clash with the new. So, from the muddy, mustard gas filled trenches we’ll see sword fights and bayonet charges and horse combat alongside tank battles, swooping biplanes and warships.

Battlefield 1, for example, revamps the series’ melee system, with the addition of a variety of different weapons each with their own stats. There’s also a class-based soldier system in play that even extends to vehicles. And what of the campaign? How is it different?

In an interview with Eurogamer, DICE producer Aleks Grondal was willing to answer some of these questions, and explain DICE’s decision to use World War 1 as a setting in the first place. Oh yeah, and why is it called Battlefield 1? Let’s find out.

The Battlefield website has the official announcement of Battlefield 1, a World War I first-person shooter coming to Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 21st, though the preorder page on Origin also lists a deluxe edition of the game that includes three days of early access among its perks. They offer an official reveal trailer showing the setting that some have argued would never be the subject of a AAA first-person shooter, and the following word:

You look into the distance and see planes torn apart by gunfire, their debris raining down over London. In war-torn France to the east, horrible armored tanks tear holes in walls as they roll through crumbling cities. To the south, past the burning Italian coast, men charge over the sand dunes of the Arabian Desert, armed to the teeth with the most powerful weaponry the world has ever seen. This is what the dawn of all-out war looks like, and it’s Only in Battlefield 1.

Battlefield 1 is releasing worldwide on October 21, 2016 for Xbox One, Origin on PC, and PlayStation 4 but you’ll be able to get your hands on it much sooner. More on that in a minute.

With Battlefield 1 we set out to create some of the largest, most dynamic battles in FPS history while continuing to tap into what fans love most about the franchise. One of the things that makes World War I such an amazing era is just how advanced it really was. Almost everything that you know about the conflicts of the next century, from the massive battles across land, air and sea, to the powerful and efficient weaponry, is there. Tanks, planes, machine guns, artillery – a lot of the tech you’ve used in other Battlefield games was perfected during this era, letting the classic Battlefield DNA shine through.

You’ll be able to join in massive 64-player battles and experience unexpected Only in Battlefield moments in a setting where the old world was destroyed, giving way to the new one. We’re turning destruction up a few notches too, so expect some surprises when you hit the battlefield.

If you’re eager to go hands-on with Battlefield 1 you won’t have to wait too long. During the EA Play events on June 12 in Los Angeles and London, we’ll reveal the first gameplay footage and let attendees try the game for themselves. Register and make your way to those events, and you’ll be able to play the game before pretty much anyone else.

EA Play won’t be your only opportunity to play before release, though. There will be more chances in the months that follow, including an Open Beta (which you can get into a little earlier if you sign up for Battlefield Insider). EA Access and Origin Access members will be able to play for a limited time before the release date, too. And if you pre-order the Early Enlister Deluxe Edition, you’ll be able to start playing on October 18, three days before the release date.

The Rainbow Six team has announced the official release date for Operation Dust Line. The desert-themed DLC will be available May 11 and will feature two new operators from the US Navy SEALs: Valkyrie and Blackbeard. Valkyrie takes the defensive role, and is equipped with sticky cameras that provide an extra level of surveillance. Blackbeard is the attacker, and will sport a shield-and-rifle combo, allowing him to take point in tough situations. You can catch a special live demo of the two new Operators in action on May 7 on the Rainbow Six Twitch channel before the start of the PC Pro League Grand Final. call-of-duty-infinite-warfareBy Brian Crecente @ Polygon

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will likely bring to mind the unknowing silence and darkness of space for future players. But the people behind the game had another environment in mind when creating this science-future take on the war shooter.

“Space is like a deep black ocean,” Infinite Warfare narrative director Taylor Kurosaki said in an interview with Polygon. “So we are taking a lot of information from and drawing a lot of metaphors with the current naval technology.”

The game, officially announced this morning, has players taking on the role of the commander of what amounts to an aircraft carrier in space. In developing the title, Infinity Ward worked with a collection of former Naval officers and sailors including a two star admiral, Navy SEALs and a Naval bridge officer.

“We work with these guys daily,” said Jacob Minkoff, design director on the game. “The militarization of space is foremost on their mind as the next frontier.”
