A post from Ubisoft explains a “radical and immersive” overhaul they are working on for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Word is: “In line with this vision and the feedback we received, we are working on a more radical and immersive version of Ghost Recon Breakpoint. We also want to let you tailor your experience to the way you want to enjoy the game, since freedom of choice has always been part of the Ghost Recon DNA.” Here’s their assessment of the current state of the game that introduces the plan:

Our first priority is to improve the technical state of the game. We know many players had a difficult time with game bugs and unexpected stability issues at launch and we are making every effort possible to address these issues as soon as we can.

With Title Update 1.0.2, released on October 15, our team made numerous improvements to the game, focusing on the most pressing issues that could be addressed in this timeframe. We are working on further improvements that will be coming soon with TU1.0.3 in mid-November, including fixes on the Drone deployment, on changing the fire rate, on NVGs blocking crosshairs and on the Mission Completion notification pop-up.

Title Update 1.0.3.1, coming around end-November, will include further improvements and updates on the most pressing community feedback.

ghost-recon-breakpointUbisoft’s latest tale of Ghosts is an overly familiar romp with too many pieces that don’t work together for an ultimately disjointed open-world shooter

By Brandin Tyrrel @ IGN

Taken at face value, Ghost Recon Breakpoint has been assembled from all the pieces it needs to be a success. And that’s its biggest problem. Ubisoft’s entire open-world playbook has been dumped in, alongside many of the games-as-service elements you’d expect to find in a game you’re intended to play for a long time. There are just too many ideas crammed in without a reason to exist and too many annoying bugs and glitches to get a consistent feel for what Breakpoint is aiming to be. It contradicts its good first impression with its reliance on an all-too-familiar shoot-and-loot formula and a collect-a-thon that wears out its welcome before the end.

ghost-recon-breakpointTom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is now available for Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The PC edition of Ubisoft’s tactical shooter series is sold through the Epic Games Store and is also available on the Uplay +*, Ubisoft’s subscription service.

Developed by Ubisoft Paris,** Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a military shooter set in a diverse and hostile open world entirely playable solo or in up to four-player co-op. Players will discover Auroa, a mysterious island where the most technically advanced facilities meet wild and untamed nature. Home to tech giant and drone creators, Skell Technology, Auroa has fallen into the wrong hands and all contact has been lost. The Wolves, a lethal ex-US military unit of former Ghosts gone rogue, have taken over the island. Led by Nomad’s ex-brother-in-arms, Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker, portrayed by Jon Bernthal, the Wolves have reprogrammed Skell’s drones into killing machines and are ready to use them, no matter the casualties.

Nomad and the Ghosts are sent on a recon mission, but their helicopters are shot down. Injured, without support and hunted down, players will live an intense military experience as they fight to survive, take down the Wolves and regain control of Auroa.

Steep slopes, accumulating injuries and fatigue are new challenges for players to tackle as they test their survival skills in the varied terrains of Auroa. Players will enjoy total freedom to accomplish their missions and have plenty of tactical options and tools at their disposal, including a set of new military features. They will be able to carry enemies and teammates’ bodies, blend into their environment with prone camo and set up camp with teammates in the bivouac to manage equipment, change classes and fine-tune their strategies.

Additionally, Ghost War, the game’s PvP mode, is seamlessly integrated within the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint experience. With the new shared progression system, each player will progress in PvE and PvP with the same character and keep their unlocked classes, skills, customization items and weapons across both modes. Specific tuning will be implemented for PvP to ensure a fair and skill-based experience for all players.

The launch of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is just the beginning, as there is a robust post-launch content support plan with regular updates. Episode one will bring Project Titan, the first raid to come to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, along with new Faction missions, PvP updates and the first new class, engineer. It will also showcase the first live event, featuring the Terminator. Episodes two and three will offer two new Adventures, two new classes, several PvP updates, new end-game content and various live events. Each faction in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will evolve through new narrative missions regularly added to the game. Players will also have access to 14 daily missions that will bring fresh tactical challenges in the open world.

Year One Pass owners will have access to all Year One Adventures and their rewards, including one-week early access to the three new classes and instant unlock to the Siren’s Call mission and the Special Operations Forces Pack. Additionally, Episode one, Operation Greenstone, will be available for players starting today.

“Squad Up ft. Lil Wayne” Live-Action Trailer
The live action sequences were shot in Vancouver, Canada, directed by David Leitch (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Deadpool 2) and produced by Minted Content in Los Angeles. Ubisoft worked with San Francisco–based agency Argonaut on the development of the concept and overall creative direction and execution of the “Squad Up ft. Lil’ Wayne” campaign. “More than anything, the key point of all action is to tell a story, and in this spot we’re telling a story with these characters in the world of the game and also the characters in their worlds at home,” said David Leitch. “We wanted to make sure we have these distinct characters that jump off the page and that the action defines them in a real particular way. We have this fun juxtaposition with the different characters and their voices too, which is a great conceit.
