World of Warplanes

Get airborne again!

World of Warplanes was released a few years back since then it has been riding high; each day pilots are jumping in the cockpit ready for action. Now it’s time for a massive overhaul including core gameplay changes, an all-new game mode, complete revised warplane types and their parameters, a highly-demanded Bomber class, and more.

Introducing the Conquest mode, World of Warplanes’ gameplay banks a steep turn from dominating in team deathmatch to achieving tactical superiority over a land area divided into key sectors. The outcome of a battle is not determined by personal skill, but by the well-coordinated efforts of a team consisting of several different warplane classes.

To emphasize the roles of various classes, each of them has been redefined to fulfill specific roles in combat, with highly distinguished advantages and disadvantages. Finally, the aircraft fleet welcomes Bombers, a long-awaited class that will have specific objectives in every battle.

Enhanced dynamics have been one of the player requirements, and in World of Warplanes Update 2.0, it will be met with the respawn system, allowing pilots to re-enter the battle and contribute to their team’s victory.

We’re proud to share the results of the hard work our team has done,” said Andrew Zhugar, World of Warplanes Publishing Director. “Every enhancement, every change was implemented through tense discussions with our devoted community. It’s them who made it possible to prepare and launch Update 2.0.

Among other updates are the overhauled graphics and sound that provide full immersion in the tense aerial combat.

Changes in short:

  • New Game Mode: The main gameplay focus has been shifted from pure dogfighting to a more strategic way of combat, where superiority is achieved by capturing areas that grant different ingame bonuses.
  • New Aircraft Class: Bombers! High Altitude aircraft suitable for ground targets destruction join the rooster! For the moment we are getting 3 premium bombers, which can be earned until the end of the month. To do so, you need to assemble them by gathering their parts in lootboxes that are obtainable by completing daily missions. Obviously, these lootboxes include tons of other ingame goods as premium time, gold, consumables…
  • New Tactical elements: manual control of your rear gunner, new bombsight view, onboarding armament reloading, and respawns! “Queue-load battle-die fast-repeat” times are over, as now mistakes are not fatal.
  • Flight mechanics, graphics, interface, sounds, animations, economy system… many more areas are getting enhancements.

New German ground attack aircraft enter combat

Wargaming today announced that update 1.7 for its flight combat MMO World of Warplanes has been released in Europe and will be available to players from North America on February 19.

A new branch of German ground attack planes has been added to the mix, including the iconic Junkers Ju.87G Stuka and the Messerschmitt Me. 265 prototype.

Lower tiers of the new branch feature more classic ground attack planes, and middle tier planes are equipped with impressive major caliber weapons. For higher tiers there is a swift increase in speed, and players will find that they are excellent, all purpose vehicles.

Update 1.7 also introduces two new game locations, “Province” and “The Observatory”, both available for tiers 5–10. “Province” transports players to an Italian-themed warzone during spring. Here they can find snaking valleys of canyons and plateaus, littered with several towns and connecting bridges. “The Observatory” is a European-themed battleground. In this harsh winter environment, players can soar across mountain ranges to discover a wide canyon marks the center of the map.

Flight combat MMO gets new aircraft line, bigger map and revamped warplane roster in Update 1.6

Wargaming today announced the launch of content update 1.6 for its massively multiplayer aviation combat game World of Warplanes. The update adds a new line of Tier 5 and higher Russian MiG fighters as well as revamps the currently existing plane roster by adding a new multirole class of warplanes for ultimate player freedom and customization.

Known for their breakneck speed and power, the Russian MiG line of jets helped define an entire era of aircraft combat. Starting at Tier 5, the new line of aircraft includes the MiG-3, MiG-9 and the legendary MiG-15bis, one of the world’s first swept wing jet fighters to be ever produced and find success in the skies of battle.

Update 1.6 will also see major changes in the creation of a brand new class of warbird—the multirole fighter. Made specifically for players looking for fighters with a balance between both air and ground combat, the new multirole class will allow them to outfit planes with armaments balanced between high caliber guns and ground destroying bombs and rockets. Previous aircraft in the fighter class, as a result, have now been designated as pure aerial combat dogfighters, which will also benefit from new balance changes for both cannons and machine guns.

Lastly, the El Halluf map will see its boundaries extended, providing a more ample landscape for battle. For more information on World of Warplanes Update 1.6 and to register for a free account, visit:
