Including 60GB of Development Data for Modders

Official mod tools for Total War: Attila are available now. The new Assembly Kit can be downloaded as a beta via the Tools menu in ATTILA owners’ Steam Library, and will be immediately familiar to modders of SHOGUN II and ROME II. The most extensive Assembly Kit yet offers the following tools:

• DaVE: enables editing of the game’s database entries.
• BOB: enables processing of raw data such as textures, models and animations.
• TeD: enables the creation of individual battlefields for land, sea and sieges.
• Terry: enables the editing of campaign map aesthetics such as the height-map, lighting and props. Unlike previous Assembly Kits, Terry now grants access to Terrain Raw Data, which means modders can determine which battle maps load in for specific campaign map locations. Go mod those cities!

In order to get the most from the tools, a Terrain Raw Data resource pack has also been made available, featuring 60Gb of in-game production data for modders to work with.

Along with the mod tools, Steam Workshop support for Total War: Attila is also live. This means modders can share their creations with other players via the Total War: Attila Workshop page.

Set in Pacific theater of WW2, Order of Battle: Pacific features playable campaigns for both the US-led Allies and the Japanese Empire. Starting from the attack on Pearl Harbor, the dynamic campaign system allows players to alter the course of history and even win the war as Japan in the fictional “what-if” conquest of Australia, or lead the Allied forces from the struggle at the beginning of the war to ultimate victory with the invasion of Japan.

Gallipoli, March 1915

Last Saturday, 25 April, was ANZAC Day when Australia and New Zealand take time to remember those who died for their countries in various conflicts. However, it is the fighting at Gallipoli in World War 1that is most usually associated with ANZAC Day and is seen as a defining moment in the history of the two nations and a major factor in their progress to independent statehood. Whilst the tragedy and heroism of the fighting at Gallipoli is remembered the naval actions that were a prelude have a lower profile. Today we take a look at the failed naval operations of March 1915.

An IL-2 Sturmovik forum post announces the release of a new patch for IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad, updating the World War II combat flight simulator to version 1.011. The new version includes a new aircraft and a new map, and also adds the ability to transfer the license for the game to Steam. They have set up a FAQ on how to get your Battle of Stalingrad Steam key.

Large scale strategy games set in the Pacific Theatre of WW2, such as Matrix Games’ War in the Pacific – Admiral’s Edition or their upcoming Order of Battle: Pacific, are extremely popular. However, by their very nature these large scale strategy games cannot show the nitty gritty of what actually happened in individual battles and encounters. Fortunately, the Second World War is one of the best documented conflicts of all time and there is an abundance of material available to fill this gap.
