“Spearhead” content update is coming this November

Gaijin Entertainment is pleased to announce that the major content update “Spearhead” for the military action online game War Thunder will be releasing this November. There’s dozens of new ground, air and naval vehicles for players to look forward to, including the British Hawk 200 strike aircraft, and the modern French Jaguar EBRC and the Chinese CM-34 recon vehicles. The colossal battleship Musashi will also be arriving, the sistership of the legendary Yamato.

‘Spearhead’ Update Trailer

The British Hawk project was originally conceived as a jet trainer, but also proved to be a popular light fighter and strike aircraft, subsonic and highly maneuverable. The Hawk 200 modification first flew in 1986 and was exported to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Oman, while the entire Hawk family is used by more than a dozen countries. For air-to-air combat, the aircraft is armed with four AIM-9L Sidewinder missiles and 30mm cannons, but the Hawk 200′s primary role is to strike ground and surface targets. Its expansive arsenal also includes powerful Sea Eagle anti-ship missiles, a new weapon in War Thunder.

The Jaguar EBRC was developed as part of a large-scale modernization program for the French Army, with the first batch of vehicles entering service in 2021. It is a fast, wheeled reconnaissance vehicle equipped with cutting edge weaponry and equipment. Its 40mm CTC autocannon fires APFSDS and AHEAD rounds to effectively combat both ground and air targets. Its large turret is equipped with a launcher for a pair of Akeron MP anti-tank missiles with a tandem warhead, which can penetrate over 1,000 mm of armor. The Jaguar EBRC also features a modern fire control system, including a panoramic commander sight, a laser warning receiver, and thermal imaging for both the gunner and commander sights. On roads, the Jaguar can comfortably reach speeds up to 90 km/h.

The CM-34 Yunbao is a Chinese wheeled reconnaissance vehicle with high speed, excellent electronics, spall liners and a powerful 30mm Bushmaster cannon. It can achieve staggering speeds of up to 100 km/h on roads and can reach 40 km/h in reverse as well. In the game, the CM-34 fits perfectly into Rank VI vehicle lineups and will be a key vehicle on fast-paced maps, ideal for capturing locations or flanking enemies.

Today, Battlefield Studios released the official Battlefield 6 Season 1 trailer, revealing new details about what’s in store for players beginning on October 28, plus a look at the season’s upcoming phases later this year.

The first phase of action-packed seasonal content begins with Rogue Ops next week, which includes a new map called Blackwell Fields built for all-out warfare chaos and an intense new 4v4 mode called Strikepoint.

This is followed by two additional first season content releases. California Resistance launches on November 18, and includes a map set in the suburbs of Southern California called Eastwood and a new mode called Sabotage where players must destroy as many sites as possible before the round ends.

Winter Offensive is the final Season 1 phase, launching on December 9, packed with special seasonal themed content, which also brings an icy chill to Empire State.

Seasonal content will be released on a consistent basis, adding maps, modes, weapons, and more, available on all platforms. All gameplay-impacting features will be free or earnable as part of our commitment to fair play and access for all players.

Blue Dot Games have just unveiled the latest in their Developer Tapes series showcasing different aspects of ‘83, their upcoming 40v40 squad-based tactical first-person shooter set in an alternate 1983 where the Cold War escalated into an all-out conflict. This latest video offers a sneak peek at its three war-torn maps awaiting players at ‘83’s Early Access launch.

If there was ever a point where World War III was expected to start, it was West Germany’s Fulda Gap. This crucible of modern armoured warfare is where ’83 shows its scale. Soviet forces have launched a massive offensive across this key corridor, backed by tanks and artillery. Rolling hills, fortified towns, dense forests, and exposed plains create a dynamic combat space where NATO forces scramble to hold the line against the relentless Soviet advance.

In the far North a Norwegian Fjord offers a strategically vital flashpoint due to its proximity to Soviet naval bases and the Atlantic sea lanes. While Soviets aim to control sea lanes, project naval power, and cut off NATO reinforcement routes to Western Europe, NATO aims to preemptively lock down this critically contested territory. Gameplay here is defined by verticality and harsh terrain. Mountain passes, fortified bunkers set deep into the rock, and coastal facilities offer diverse tactical opportunities and demand flexibility from both attackers and defenders.

Finally there’s the massive Duga over-the-horizon missile detecting radar, known as the “Woodpecker”. In ‘83 this is a key command-and-control hub, integral to the Soviet early warning network. Gameplay here blends open woodland with dense interior fighting around the radar structures, mixing long sightlines with brutal close-quarters battles. It’s a map that favours stealth, surprise, and sabotage and rewards teams that can coordinate under pressure.

As with the Ghost Division before, the focus once again falls on following the battles of the very best a nation involved in the Second World War had to offer, and for the Motherland, this means the Soviet Guards!

With the glowing reception and success of Elite – Ghost Division, and while larger mega campaigns continue their production, we’re eager to fulfill the ideal of the Elite series to bring each major nation its own Panzer Corps 2 campaign. And who better to represent the soldiers of the USSR in their debut campaign than the 1st Guards?

As before, the Elite series is also resolved to its commitment to fight against rising inflation, and will once again release at the 4.99 USD price point. We were extremely pleased with the player reception from Ghost Division, and see no good reason to arbitrarily raise this series’s price point.

Because in the end, that is what really matters, that we’re making great content that our players are excited to enjoy at fair exchange.

To uphold those values, we’ve got a great campaign lined up, filled with awesome battles of epic size. Elite – 1st Guards is stuffed full of key battles ranging from 1937 all the way to 1945, and you’ll be deploying almost twice as many CORE units to battle over the previous Ghost Division campaign.

When Operation Barbarossa was launched in June of 1941, there was no such thing as a ‘Guards’ unit. By the time World War II ended in 1945, over 200 formations carried the venerated title of ‘Guards’; from Guards Rifle Divisions to Guards Tank or Guards Mechanized Divisions to even Aviation Regiments and entire Guards Armies.
