Next major update brings cluster bombs, the mighty F-15EX Eagle II aircraft, as well as dozens of other signature military vehicles

Gaijin Entertainment announces that “Eagle’s Shadow”, the next major content update for the online military action game War Thunder, will be available to the players in mid-November. The update will bring dozens of new military vehicles, led by the F-15EX Eagle II, the latest evolution of the legendary American jet. New naval assets include Imperator Nikolai I, a heavily armored battleship of the Russian Imperial Navy with twelve 305 mm guns.

The F-15EX Eagle II will become the new top aircraft in the US and Israeli aviation lineups. The latest evolution of the legendary F-15 family entered operational service with the US Air Force in 2024 and combines the Eagle’s famous flight performance and exceptional weapons payload with thoroughly modern systems like the new AESA radar and the advanced electronic warfare suite. In War Thunder, the F-15EX will be the first aircraft capable of carrying 12 active radar-homing air-to-air missiles or up to 20 guided bombs in a single loadout, as well a very large reserve of flares and chaff thanks to an additional countermeasure pod.

Another interesting jet is the Su-15TM, a Cold War high-altitude interceptor capable of speeds exceeding Mach 2. It will become the earliest Soviet aircraft in War Thunder to carry medium-range air-to-air missiles, introducing the new R-98MR semi-active radar-guided and R-98MT infrared-guided missiles. Its excellent climb rate and strong vertical maneuverability make it a formidable interceptor.

Eagle’s Shadow will also introduce an entirely new category of aircraft weapon to War Thunder: cluster bombs. Weapons including the Russian RBK-500 and American CBU-87/B scatter multiple submunitions across a target area, giving pilots a new tool for attacking concentrations of ground vehicles.

On the ground, Germany and Sweden will both receive the Leopard 2A8, representing the pinnacle of the Leopard 2 family currently entering service in Europe. It is the first mass-produced Leopard 2 variant equipped with the Trophy hard-kill active protection system, which automatically detects and intercepts incoming anti-tank guided missiles. Combined with additional hull and side armor, an internal spall liner, third-generation thermal imagers and the powerful DM53 APFSDS round, the Leopard 2A8 will become one of the strongest top-tier main battle tanks in War Thunder. Sweden will receive the Leopard 2A8 variant configured for the Norwegian Army.

More information about the vehicles, weapons and other features coming in War Thunder: Eagle’s Shadow will be revealed in the coming weeks.

More information on the Eagle’s Shadow update is available on the official War Thunder website.
