worldofwarships-logoWargaming today announced the new battle type “Team Battles” for World of Warships will set sail in Update 0.5.3. This new battle type, which unlocks at account level 12, lets captains create an elite squadron of players, work with them to sharpen their skills, and then set out to decimate their opponents and rule the waves.

Taking the prestige of World of Warship’s naval combat to a new level, Team Battles are the domain of certain tier vessels, consisting of 7-vs-7 skirmishes. Players can have up to 10 people in their team (with three in reserve). They can also be recruited for up to three teams simultaneously, so there is always a new Team Battles waiting on the horizon. Team Battles will only be available during “prime time,” a necessary restriction to ensure a competitive number of players are all in the queue.

“The fans have been asking for more forms of team interaction since we started developing World of Warships,” said Danny Volkov, World of Warships Development Director, Wargaming. “With Team Battles, we’ve listened to their feedback and created an arena where they can meet teammates, forge their perfect squad and take on intense battles with top players in their region.”

On a team’s journey to become the dominating force of the seas, they will advance through a number of leagues, battling towards a common objective, to improve their ranking. Through Team Battles, captains get their fill of high-level skirmishes and truly take their skills to the next level.

You might question the need for news on the annual Call of Duty game – it’s confirmation that 2016 is definitely a year – but the circumstances that surround it do make the new shooter notable. Activision Blizzard has bellowed from atop Mt. Money to confirm that franchise creator Infinity Ward will deliver the “innovative” game, which should come three years after it completed Call of Duty: Ghosts – if we’re sticking to the usual holiday release window.

Ghosts was the last game released before Activision spread development of Call of Duty games across three different studios, and claimed that each would have about three years to put together something befitting the series (especially after the tepid reception to Ghosts). The first ‘three year’ game, then, was Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare from Sledgehammer Studios in 2014, followed the next year by Treyarch’s Black Ops 3. Activision says Black Ops 3 is the best-selling video game on current consoles, period, so that went well.

When it launches later in 2016, Infinity Ward’s new Call of Duty: No Subtitle Announced Yet will complete Activision’s first three-step run through the new development cycle – before it all repeats again. With over $15 billion earned from the series (including DLC) and 250 million copies sold so far, this cycle isn’t likely to break, even while other huge franchises are taking some time off.

tom-clancys-the-divisionToday, Ubisoft announced an Open Beta for Tom Clancy’s the Division which will take place February 19-21 on Xbox One, PlayStation® 4 and Windows PC and everyone can preload the content starting February 16. Xbox One players will also have exclusive 24-hour early access starting on February 18.

With the highly anticipated release of Tom Clancy’s The Division just weeks away, and following the recent Closed Beta, the Open Beta is an invitation for all players to get a taste of the game’s mid-crisis New York ahead of its official launch on March 8.
