This Karelian-Finnish folk song was famously used by Finnish troops to prevent the Soviet army from detonating radio-activated mines. Played on repeat from radio vans, the Säkkijärven polkka jammed the Soviet radio transmitters to such an extent that the Finnish army was able to clear the minefields. Ringblom’s new arrangement is a tribute to ingenuity of the Finns as they tried to repel a larger foe.

The release of Arms Against Tyranny will be accompanied by a major free update to Hearts of Iron IV, available to all Hearts of Iron players. This update includes free changes to Finland’s historical National Focus tree.

Fulqrum Publishing and Ukrainian studio Best Way are happy to announce the Final Beta weekend for the highly-anticipated real-time strategy title Men of War II will begin on Thursday, August 10, and conclude on Monday, August 14. This Final Beta weekend marks the third time fans will have access to the game ahead of the release on September 20th, 2023, via Steam, Epic Games Store and other digital store fronts. It will be available to download for free via the Men of War II Steam page, where players can immediately head to and sign up for access today.

During the open beta, players will be able to experience Men of War II’s Classic Modes, a highly-requested feature from the community, which will take players back to the multiplayer experience of previous Men of War games. Players will be able to simply select which nation they want to play as, and will immediately have access to all that nation’s units in each match. There are no battalions and echelons, with the player calling in their forces based on a combination of each unit’s individual timer, as well as the player’s own pool of resources.

Meanwhile, fans looking for a new experience can check out the Realism Mode, which offers a higher chance of disabling and capturing enemy vehicles, fewer visual cues concerning the visibility and health of their units, a more limited range of fire for weapons and many more gameplay changes.

This Final open Beta is based on community feedback from thousands of players who have already played, tested, and provided their thoughts on the previous two public tests on everything from unit balance to optimization improvements. The version in this Beta will closely mirror the full release experience, with further features, lots of content, and other modes added at launch. The developers will continue to work on polishing and balancing based on fresh player feedback from this Beta. Players’ progress and saves in this open beta test will not carry over to release.

Wargaming, publisher and developer of leading naval battle MMO World of Warships, is making a splash with an abundance of refreshing content for its July update. This drop sees a new fleet of Tier II–X Spanish cruisers arrive in Early Access, as well as some exciting updates for the game’s collaboration with iconic cartoon character Popeye the Sailor Man and charity FORCE BLUE for World Ocean Month. The update also introduces the fifth wave of Azur Lane content, a new collection dedicated to a major battle from WWI with a Premium destroyer as its final reward, and a new branch of European destroyers for all players.

Spanish cruisers in Early Access

Kicking off the update, World of Warships welcomes an entirely new branch of Spanish cruisers to the Tech Tree. Spanning Tier II to X, the range features nine ships with solid armor; main battery guns with a long reach and good damage per minute, plus the “Burst Fire” mode; and short-range torpedoes. The new ships can be unlocked in Early Access through various means, such as by obtaining random bundles and the different sets they hold. In addition to the ships, the random bundle sets also offer loads of themed Spanish content, including a commemorative flag and special permanent camouflages.

This range of cruisers also offers players a decent range of consumables to deploy in battle, with Hydroacoustic Search available for ships of Tier IV and above and Defensive AA Fire available for Tier VI and higher ships. Ships from Tier VII upward also have the Repair Teams, Fighter, and Spotter consumables at their disposal.

BattleGoat Studios is very excited to announce July 25th 2023 as the official release date for our upcoming title Supreme Ruler 2030. Supreme Ruler 2030 is a next generation Geopolitical Real-Time Strategy game for PC, developed by BattleGoat Studios and distributed through Steam.

The game offers players the opportunity to choose a region and take on the role of that nation’s leader. Nearly all present day countries and regions will be represented, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. Players have control over the finances, industries, military, research and diplomacy of the selected country. Gameplay is in variable speed real time, allowing actions while paused for planning and faster speeds to watch the action unfold. Government ministers are there to assist players, allowing them to manage what they want, and automate less important decisions.

During the recent Steam NextFest, thousands of strategy game enthusiasts played our Demo scenario “Battle of Russia”, featuring a near-future crisis and civil war following the death of President Vladimir Putin. The full game will include four future Campaigns as well as four Sandbox maps, including an isolationist near-future world in 2030, a Sandbox based on the current geo-political conditions of 2023, and a “Shattered World” future where nations have collapsed into regional conflicts.

Expanding on past titles the game includes a rebuilt game engine for 64 bit support, DirectX 11 graphics, and a more robust AI for both military and country management. Improvements for lighting, effects, water and terrain provide a better visual experience. Performance improvements allow faster gameplay. Revised storylines, military inventory, research tree, country relationships and heads of state create an entirely new Supreme Ruler experience.

The Supreme Ruler series is the longest-running PC game franchise still in active development, with the series having just celebrated 40 years since the original release of the text-based “Supreme Ruler” game for the TRS-80, and 15 years since the release of the award-winning Supreme Ruler 2020, which set a new bar for scale and scope in strategy games.

Gaijin Entertainment announces that an event dedicated to Soviet robotics has started in the online action game War Thunder that will completely change your perception of warfare principles. Unique combat machines from the world of the Atomic Heart game will meet in battle with conventional tanks, other ground vehicles and helicopters produced by the USSR and the U.S.A. during the Cold War times. The Atomic Thunder event is already available to players and will run until July 31st.

In Atomic Thunder, players are divided into two teams, which include the conventional military vehicles, such as tanks T-55A and M-60, helicopters AH-1 and Mi-24, and unique combat vehicles from Atomic Heart. The battle robot Hedgie can curl up into a ball and move swiftly around the location, jump up and attack enemies from above, as well as bombard them from afar with homing missiles with HEAT warheads. The Laser Pchela is a swift flying drone attacking with a laser. Finally, the Repair Pchela can repair allied vehicles and robots, as well as summon the Burav, a powerful fighting machine that attacks enemies from underground.

Victura and Highwire Games has launched first-person tactical shooter Six Days in Fallujah in Steam’s Early Access, priced at USD 39.99. EUR 38.99 and GBP £32.99. Featuring four co-operative, four-player missions, Six Days in Fallujah’s urban maps are generated procedurally, simulating the uncertainty of combat, and offering unlimited replayability.

The most realistic simulation of urban combat to-date, Six Days in Fallujah is developed with help from more than 100 Marines and Soldiers who served in the Second Battle of Fallujah, as well as more than two dozen Iraqi civilians and soldiers. Based on true stories from the battle, Six Days requires players to overcome real-world scenarios with their fire team by using real-life military tactics.

In the coming months, additional features and content will be introduced, including:

Night-time Missions: Knowing what lies around the next corner is hard enough during daylight hours. Gameplay evolves with even more tension with the addition of night-time missions, as more are added throughout Early Access.
