order-of-battle-winter-war“The wolves will eat well this winter” – Anonymous Finnish officer, during a battle in the area of Suomussalmi

Only a few years have passed since Finland gained its independence in 1917 and the events of the following Civil War have led to a country that is recovering from fresh wounds. But the trials for this young Nation are not ended. The Soviet Union, considering that the Finnish-Russian borders were too close to Leningrad, demanded them to be moved westward and for the dismantling of all the fortifications that the Finnish had built in the Karelian Isthmus.

Following the Finnish rejection of these terms, the Soviets bombed Helsinki and invaded the country with over 400,000 soldiers. The Finnish Army could not possibly match the assaulting forces in terms of manpower and materiel and Finland’s destiny seemed already decided.

On the contrary, this was the beginning of one of the most epic defensive campaigns ever fought. Described by Harold Macmillan as “Thermopylae every day” and fuelled by Finnish Sisu, this was the start of the Winter War!

After Order of Battle: US Marines, developers The Artistocrats are coming back with a new DLC, but this time we move to the Far North.

Order of Battle: Winter War is set during the war between Finland and Soviet Union, fought after only three months the Russian invaded Poland in agreement with the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

This new expansion for Order of Battle includes the Winter War (1939-1940), the Continuation War (1941-1944) and the Lapland War (1944-1945). Players take control of the Finnish Army and, according to the shifting tides of war, against troops from Germany or the Soviet Union.

Developer Obsidian Entertainment and global publisher My.com are excited to reveal details of the first Tier 10 vehicles that will be added with the upcoming Update 0.15 on May 3rd. The highest tier in Armored Warfare will include pieces of armored technology, such as the Leopard 2A7, XM1A3 Abrams, PL-01, and more.

Watch the Armored Warfare Tier 10 Trailer here.

“Leading up to the introduction of Tier 10, we’ve been carefully monitoring the community’s opinions on what the highest tier of Armored Warfare should contain,” said Antoine Guyard, EU producer for Armored Warfare. “It became obvious that while having vehicles that actually exist, it would also be good to take it a bit further and let our players experience the vehicles that are currently in the prototype or concept phase, with experimental or planned upgrades. Considering the fact that actions in Armored Warfare take place in mid-2030s, we see it as as perfect solution to bring the most awesome vehicles into Armored Warfare. We hope our players will enjoy these newest additions to Armored Warfare!”

Armored Warfare Tier 10 Vehicle details:

  • PL-01 – light tank concept developed by OBRUM and BAE Systems on a CV90 AFV chassis. Armed with an auto-loading 120mm cannon that is capable of firing APFSDS, HEAT and HE shells as well as LAHAT anti-tank guided missiles. Agile and fast, the PL-01 is the pinnacle of the Light Tank class.
  • SPHINX – French prototype vehicle by Panhard. It’s a sturdy turreted six-wheeled and lightly armored vehicle but with considerable firepower from its 40mm autocannon and ATGMs. SPHINX will be the most potent scouting vehicle in Armored Warfare.
  • Leopard 2A7-140 – the ultimate combination of the most modern Leopard 2 armor kit available and the firepower of a 120mm L/55 Rheinmetall gun or experimental 140mm cannon. Equipped with the most advanced countermeasures available in the world, it will be a tough opponent to beat for any vehicle.
  • XM1A3 Abrams – prototype which combines the most advanced upgrades available for this aging chassis. Based on the M1A2 Abrams with a TUSK kit and ARAT-2 explosive reactive armor, it is armed with a 120mm gun that can be upgraded to the 140mm ATACS cannon.
  • T-14 Armata – super-modern Main Battle Tank from Russia introduced in early 2015. It’s an advanced design that includes an unmanned turret and a new 125mm automatically loaded gun, which surpasses any other MBT currently in service.
  • Challenger 2 ATDU – the latest experimental version of the legendary Challenger 2 and best-armored vehicle in Armored Warfare. Excellent armor and experimental 140mm cannon capable of firing both kinetic and high-explosive shells make it one of the most dangerous beasts on the battlefield.

Today AMD is releasing the Radeon Pro Duo to the market as their first card targeted at VR developers. This card is not being directly aimed at gamers, despite the capability under the hood, but focuses on official support for professional software. Additionally, multiple initiatives are being both spearheaded and supported by AMD and others to encourage growth in the VR sector.

Official mod, Update 1.58, permanent price drop

In support of the Arma 3 Steam Workshop, Bohemia Interactive deployed an ‘official mod’ in the form of the free ADR-97 Weapon Pack. A new trailer, which accompanies the ADR’s release, demonstrates how easy it is to install user-created content from the Arma 3 Steam Workshop.

The ADR-97 Weapon Pack consists of a collection of variants of the ADR-97 submachine gun. Inspired by the iconic FN P90, the ADR is a lightweight, highly maneuverable firearm with a high rate of fire, which stands out due to the 50-round magazines positioned on top of the weapon. The ADR-97 comes with inbuilt collimator sights, but some variants can also be fitted with custom optics.

To add the ADR-97 Weapon Pack to their game, players simply need to visit the official mod’s page on the Steam Workshop (via their web browser or the Steam Client), and click on the green ‘Subscribe’ button, as is demonstrated in the video. Then, when they start Arma 3 from their Steam Library, they can enable the ADR-97 Weapon Pack (and other mods they have installed) via the ‘Mods’ tab in the Arma 3 Launcher, and run the game. The ADR-97 is now reasy for use; give it a go in the new 3D Scenario Editor!

In addition, while marching forward on the #RoadToApex, Arma 3 today also received a significant platform update. Highlights of Update 1.58 include the new Apex control preset, the ability to switch between weapons while in movement, an overhaul to Arma 3′s difficulty options, an improved system for assigning and managing in-game ‘tasks’, and continued support for the recently released Eden 3D Editor, as well as a range of other improvements and fixes. The complete changelog is available on the Arma 3 Dev Hub.

Last but not least, for the first time since its official release in September 2013, Bohemia Interactive has announced a permanent price drop for Arma 3 and all of its DLC released so far. The new price for the Arma 3 base game is 34,99 EUR / 29.99 GBP / 39.99 USD (before it was 44.99 EUR/35.99 GBP/59.99 USD). The Arma 3 Helicopters DLC and Arma 3 Marksmen DLC are now 9.99 EUR / 7.99 GBP / 11.99 USD (before it was 12.99 EUR/10.99 GBP/15.99 USD). The price of the Arma 3 DLC Bundle, which includes the Karts, Helicopters, and Marksmen DLC has been reduced to 16.99 EUR / 14.99 GBP / 19.99 USD (before it was 19.99 EUR/16.99 GBP/24.99 USD). Those who are new to Arma 3, but want the most complete experience for the best price, can still choose to pick up the Arma 3 Apex Edition for 59.99 EUR / 44.99 GBP / 69.99 USD, which includes the Arma 3 Digital Deluxe Edition, Karts, Helicopters, and Marksmen DLC, and the upcoming Apex expansion. All Arma 3 editions and DLC are available for purchase on the Bohemia Store and Steam.

Camo Workshop says, “Apologies to our Fans”

As of 6:53 am (EDST) this morning (April 21, 2014) new (b) versions of both patches are in place. DRG of Camo Worshop said on the Shrapnel Games’ Camo Workshop Forums, “There are NO OOB changes so anyone who may have started a PBEM is not affected and can download this new version without problems. The game version number that shows when the game starts has NOT changed as there were no code or OOB changes – the only change is to the patch version. I apologise for the inconvenience.”

The following winSPMBT corrections were made:

Key Game Guide files were put in an incorrectly named folder in the orginal patch download and therefore critical info on how to fire NLOS missles was not showing up when players tried to find that info in the Game Guide. As well.- since this had to be rebuilt for the Game Guide info anyway – the T-14 Armata photo that was missing from the orginal patch is now in this ‘b’ version.

The following winSPWW2 correction was made:

The missing text file for the “Invasion Sweden 1943″ campaign has been included .

Anyone who downloaded and installed the original patch of April 20, 2016 should download and install the new ‘b’ versions.

The winSPMBT patch can be found here.

The winSPWW2 patch can be found here.

Both winSPWW2 and winSPMBT are available as fully featured FREE downloads or Enhanced Editions (CD or Download) through our e-store. The Enhanced Editions are not different in the core gameplay, but provide a lot of extra bells and whistles for the Steel Panthers connoisseur. Both games work with even the latest version of Windows.

Please visit Shrapnel Games to join the winSPWW2 and winSPMBT discussions. While there check out all of our Strategy and Wargames.

thermaltake-core-w100-super-tower-chassisBy Steve Lynch @ HardOCP

The W100 SUper Tower Chassis is not small and it is not cheap. It even comes fully unassembled. It does however look to fit the needs of the most hardcore water cooling enthusiasts however. The W100 is likely the most versatile case we have ever reviewed in terms of fan and radiator compatibility.
