Deep Silver now offers The Voice of Freedom, the first single-player DLC for Homefront: The Revolution, Dambuster’s insurrection-themed first-person shooter. This is a story-driven prologue to the game available separately (the base game is required) or as part of a season pass. Here’s word on the add-on and improvements in the latest patch:

The Voice of Freedom casts the player as Benjamin Walker, legendary figurehead for the rebellion and the KPA’s most wanted man, as he tries to infiltrate Occupied Philadelphia and meet up with Jack Parish’s Resistance Cell. This tense, story-driven prologue will test your stealth and combat skills as you encounter a sinister and hostile faction in the subways of Philadelphia – the ‘90’.

The Voice of Freedom is free to all holders of the Homefront Expansion Pass, and available to purchase separately for $5.99 (regional pricing may vary). It is ready to download now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC via Steam.

Players returning to Homefront: The Revolution will also find that the recent ‘Performance Patch’ has massively improved the overall experience.

Arvold from the many situations he created for Avalon Hill’s PanzerBlitz, Panzer Leader and Arab-Israeli Wars games, as were made present like in Avalon Hill’s AH General, Wargamer, and other magazines. Later, as tabletop boardgames were replaced with computer wargaming, Alan performed the paramount task of preserving all these games in Talonsoft’s Campaign Series game titles.

Alan’s been continuing to preserve some genuine wargaming history in electronic format, now with Campaign Series: Middle East!

afghanistan-11-boxWe have big news today. We are announcing a new game, one which explores a largely untouched setting and with an extremely original approach to wargaming: Afghanistan ’11.

Afghanistan ’11 builds upon the very successful Vietnam ’65 and brings its original formula to the desolate mountains of Afghanistan, where the US armed forces, assisted by the local Afghan National Army, fought for years against an invisible enemy.

Afghanistan ’11 isn’t your standard wargame: if you want to win it won’t just be about eliminating the enemy on the battlefield, but you will need to conquer the Hearts & Minds of the locals by ensuring safety to villages, isolating and eliminating Taliban leaders, training the Afghan army and building and protecting infrastructure.

Logistics and organization will be extremely important as the Talibans, tribal militias and drug lords will attempt to thwart your efforts with sneaky ambushes and terroristic attacks – the enemy plays hide and seek and could be everywhere and only the most skilled strategist will manage to win the war in Afghanistan and help build a modern nation.

The game is about to enter its beta testing phase, and we could use your help. Feel free to apply here.

Afghanistan ’11 is coming on PC and Steam in Q1 2017!

be-quiet-silent-loop-aio-cpu-coolerBy Peter Donnell @ eTeknix

Be Quiet! is one of the biggest names in the cooling business, offering up multi-award winning air coolers that have long been some of the best performing and quietest coolers on the market. While the company has expanded their ranges over the years to include high-end power supplies and even chassis, they’ve never bothered to follow the trend for water cooling, at least that was true until today.

The new Silent Loop series comes in three sizes, 120mm, 240mm and 280mm, featuring all the usual attention to detail we’ve come to know and love from be quiet! and that gives us a lot of hope that these new coolers will be some (if not the) best coolers in their respective price ranges.

panzer-corps-goldBack when we released the U.S. Corps packs we told you they would be the last DLCs for the Panzer Corps series, but we never said that the path of Panzer Corps had come to an end. Millions of people enjoyed Panzer Corps in the last few years: it’s been a long and epic ride, but it’s not over yet.

We are going to update the game and make a special edition containing every expansion and DLC ever published: Panzer Corps Gold!

For the first time you’ll have the opportunity to buy every single expansion plus the base game in a single product, thus receiving a big discount on the whole package.

To celebrate the Gold edition we are going to add some decisive improvements to the game’s interface; now it’ll be possible to see a combat prediction in the map screen while planning your movement, and your units’ special abilities will be highlighted in the UI! Those are life changers, trust me.

In order to be fair to those who already own the game these improvements will be available to anyone in a free patch.

AMD has released the latest version of Radeon Software Crimson Edition. Version 16.9.2 (beta). These drivers come with day-one optimization for “Forza Horizon 3,” the latest addition to Microsoft’s smash-hit race sim. The drivers also lack the AMD Gaming app by Raptr, the app that started out at AMD’s equivalent to NVIDIA GeForce Experience. This move shaves the installer size by about 35 MB.

The Battlefield 1 system requirements are out, and you probably won’t be shocked to learn that they’re a little on the steep side. BF1 may be using “the most optimized” version of the Frostbite engine yet, as DICE director of technology Per-Olof Romell said, but this is still an intensive game we’re talking about if a Core i5 6600K is in its minimum specs. EA also talked a bit about some of the changes coming to BF1 as a result of the lessons learned in the open beta.

First up, the hardware. Hold on to your helmets.

The minimum spec:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350
  • Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • Graphics card (Nvidia): Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
  • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
  • Hard-drive space: 50GB

The recommended spec:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX 8350 Wraith
  • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790 or equivalent
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
  • Graphics card (Nvidia): Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
  • DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
  • Available Disk Space: 50GB

In a separate blog post, EA said that as a result of feedback from the open beta, the Conquest mode is being changed so that capturing objectives and scoring kills will both contribute to the final score of a match, and the Rush game mode is being added.

“We’re also looking into balancing other elements, including the weapons and vehicles. The Light Tank, which is a bit too effective in the Open Beta, will definitely receive some work, and we agree that Horses can take a few too many rounds at the moment,” lead world designer Daniel Berlin explained. “We’ve also learned through the Beta that you guys need more tools to deal with vehicles earlier, which we’ll definitely look into (including a Gadget for the Support class which should help neutralize powerful vehicles).”

Battlefield 1 will be out on October 21.
