Our first Z270 motherboard is here with ASRock’s Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K6. This board represents a huge step up from the Z170 K6 by adding a number of new features including Intel Optane support. While the Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K6 is not the flagship model in ASRock’s Z270 range it certainly doesn’t leave any features on the proverbial shelf.

AMD has released the latest version of its Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition. The reason these are not marked 17.1, after January 2017, is because they’re just WHQL-signed versions of the 16.12.2 beta drivers released in December 2016, and as such feature an identical change-log.

The 7th Generation Intel Core i7 Kaby Lake desktop processors have been officially announced and the Intel Core i7-7700K is the new flagship LGA1151 processor for Intel! Intel Kaby Lake desktop performance numbers have been leaked for more than two months now, so if you are reading this review we truly appreciate it and thank you for supporting Legit Reviews and all the independent reviews that we have been doing since 2002! Intel is releasing 16 new LGA1151 processors today for the Kaby Lake desktop processor launch. The good news is that all of these processors are backwards compatible with existing Intel 100 series boards after a UEFI update and of course the new Intel 200 series boards that were also announced today. Pricing on the flagship desktop model, the Intel Core i7-7700K, start at $339 and then go all the way down to just $138 on the lower-end dual-core models.

As we plow through our many Z270 motherboards reviews we have looked at budget, mainstream but also we need to look at high-end the enthusiast class. That’s where we meet the MSI Z270 XPOWER GAMING Titanium. A breathtaking motherboard with metal colored coating, extra overclock features, DDR4 boost functions not one, not two but three M.2. slots and just so much more. Titanium edition – it probably is the most interesting looking motherboard released ever thanks to a new PCB coating. Combined with a few extra’s and an overall high class build MSI might have a true winner here. A motherboard that promises to deliver a high amount of features and provide that Sky- or Kaby Lake processor the full infrastructure is needs for a kick-ass gaming PC.

Corsair hasn’t been that aggressive in the SSD market recently, but all that changed earlier this month when their announced the Force MP500. This drive marks a number of firsts for Corsair as it is their first drive to ever use the M.2 2280 form factor, PCIe interface, and the NVMe protocol. Since this is Corsair’s first PCIe Gen 3 x4 SSD it has blisteringly fast sequential speeds of up to 3,000 MB/s read and 2,400 MB/s write, which makes it roughly 5 times faster than the Corsair Nuetron Series XTi drives that used to be their flagship storage drive series. Things are also impressive on the 4K Random Read/Write performance as the Phison 5007-E7 controller and 15nm Toshiba MLC NAND Flash are capable of reaching up to 250,000 IOPS for 4K Random Reads and 210,000 IOPS of 4K Random Write performance.

NVIDIA has released the GeForce 376.33 WHQL drivers. These drivers come with a number of bug-fixes covering the previous GeForce 376.19 drivers, particularly with its Oculus Touch VR game title-specific optimizations. According to the release notes, these drivers seem to disable SLI support for “Titanfall 2,” probably because it’s too unstable at the moment.
UPDATE:
If you’re one of those people who doesn’t regularly update their graphics card drivers, and you’re rocking an NVIDIA graphics card, you really should update your drivers to the latest WHQL version, 376.33. The release notes and a security bulletin issued by the company point towards the fixing of multiple detected kernel layer (nvlddmkm.sys) vulnerabilities in NVIDIA’s previous driver releases, which could “Lead to a Denial of Service, Escalation of Privileges, or Both”.
In total, there are seven reported vulnerabilities as having been fixed, with NVIDIA acknowledging contributions in the issues’ detection from engineers with Google Project Zero and Cisco Talos.
