Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming XTC700 CPU Cooler Review

While many enthusiasts love their water cooling setups, there’s still a lot of love out their for air cooling. Even here at eTeknix we have most of our rigs running on air coolers, such as the Noctua NH-D15, and they’ll run circles around many of the AIO coolers on the market, and they’ll run quieter too. Gigabyte knows this, and that’s why they’ve set out to create their own high-end air cooler, which not only promises great cooling performance, but also quiet acoustics and a competitive. The XTC700 comes well equipped, with dual 120mm PWM fans, which feature a unique blade design for optimal cooling/acoustic performance. The big star of the show, however, is the cooling tower, which packs in three extra thick 10mm heat pipes, giving the cooler a max TDP in excess of 200W! Add to that the custom top plate, RGB lighting and support for all major modern sockets, and you’ve got enough reasons to get excited about what this cooler can do.

AMD Releases Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.3.1

AMD has released the latest version of its Radeon driver package, Radeon Software Crimson ReLive 17.3.1. The changelog indicates an improvement of up to 6% Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands, as well as a new CrossFire profile for the same game. Also included is a big list of fixed issues, which we have included below for your examination.

GIGABYTE Z270X Gaming 9 Motherboard Review

GIGABYTE is one of the most well-known and respected motherboard manufacturers in the industry today. Following suit with its competition, GIGABYTE has recently started its “Aorus” brand to target the gamers and some enthusiasts who can appreciate the gaming focused aesthetic qualities common to motherboards in that market. The Z270X Gaming 9 is part of the Aorus family, and it is the premiere LGA 1151 entry. Make no mistake about it, this is not positioned as a value motherboard. At the time of this writing this monster comes in at $499.99. There are a lot of reasons for this and in a sense, it is a value option because of all that comes with it, but its cost is no doubt at the very ceiling of what you’ll see in the “mainstream” gaming motherboard market. I’ll expand more on this point later, but I think a few of you will come to see this motherboard as a good deal if you planned on buying many of the devices included with the motherboard.

ASRock Z270 SuperCarrier 4-Way SLI ATX Motherboard Review

NVIDIA Releases the GeForce 378.77 Hotfix Drivers

NVIDIA today released a hotfix version of its GeForce driver suite. Numbered the 378.77, these fix some issues with the previous driver release, numbered 378.66. Solved issues include driver installation errors for laptops with GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti GPUs, crashes in Minecraft and some other Java-based titles, and resolving ‘Debug Mode’ as default option on Pascal based GPUs.

This driver release contains all previous improvements, including an optimized experience for Sniper Elite 4, For Honor and Halo Wars 2, whilst also introducing support for NVIDIA’s Video SDK 8.0, which provides support for high-bit-depth (10/12-bit) hardware accelerated video decoding of VP9 and HEVC.
