The legendary RTS series reaches the cold war era

Today, 1C Entertainment and developer Digitalmindsoft are excited to announce the latest iteration in its long-running Men of War RTS series: Men of War: Assault Squad 2 – Cold War. Available as a standalone expansion, the game launches on Steam on September 12. This marks the series’ first foray into this iconic era, bringing with it all the tense, military tactics players have come to expect from the series, told against the backdrop of the heated conflict between the United States and Soviet Union.

Building upon the framework of Men of War: Assault Squad 2, Cold War introduces a brand-new feature to the series: dynamic campaign creation. Mirroring the ever-present feeling of dread that permeated the era, dynamic campaign creation ensures no two campaign experiences play out the same in single player and co-op. From randomized skirmishes to custom army compositions, players will be forced to think on their feet in the heat of battle.

Men of War: Assault Squad 2 – Cold War also marks the return of the series’ genre-defining RTS combat. Players take control of vast armies of U.S. or Soviet soldiers, tanks, helicopters and more as they take this historic struggle to series-first locales. From sleepy winter villages to fortified border zones, Direct Control mode returns, giving players unprecedented control over their forces, allowing them to control single units in a bid to out-maneuver their enemies. Couple this with online multiplayer to match the game’s dynamic single player and co-op campaigns, and Men of War fans have a lot to be excited about!

Set in a new theater of war, the new expansion for Order of Battle: World War II puts the player in charge of the Soviet army. Starting with the fight against the Imperial Japan, players will get transferred to Europe in 1939. Red Star covers the battles of the Red Army in the years 1938-41.

The game starts with the Battle of Lake Khasan (July 29, 1938 – August 11, 1938), the attempted military incursion by the Japanese from Manchukuo, into territory claimed by the Soviet Union. It continues with the conflict of Khalkhin Gol, the decisive battle of the undeclared Soviet-Japanese Border War. Repel the Japanese and expel them from Mongolia!

Then, get transferred to Europe and participate in the Soviet invasion of Poland (as result of the so-called non-aggression pact with Germany). and win the Finnish forces moving your steps in the gelid Winter War!

The last stage of the DLC from summer 1941 deals with the German invasion of the USSR and ends with the battle of Moscow in Dec. 1941.

It’s time to check out the new Cooler Master Silencio S600 mid-tower PC chassis. CM released many new cases recently, including the Masterbox Q500L and the NR600, which we reviewed on Guru3d in May and June respectively. I’ve mentioned the latter on purpose, as the Silencio S600, which is the hero of this test, is very, very similar in overall design to the NR600. The case was announced in mid-June. As the name of the series suggests, it should be a silent chassis, and it comes with several design elements that minimize noise pollution. There’s a soundproofing internal lining, a light frame, and several anti-vibration pads inside. If the external design is sober and consistent with such staples of the Silencio family as e.g. an SD card reader on the I/O panel, then the internal layout has evolved. It’s been adapted to meet modern standards in terms of gaming chassis design and water-cooling compatibility.

Gaijin Entertainment today announced the start of the Operation H.E.A.T. player event in War Thunder. From August 2nd to August 26th, players are able to complete in-game tasks in battle to get six new and exclusive vehicles: the BT-7 (F-32) light tank, Bf 110 C-6 heavy fighter, River class (K-246) frigate, AUBL/74 HVG armoured car, P-59A jet fighter and Yūdachi destroyer, as well as camouflages and decals.

The new and exclusive vehicles will be interesting to military history fans and seasoned War Thunder veterans alike, both for their historical and tactical significance.

• BT-7 (F-32): In 1939, a single BT-7 light tank was equipped with the 76 mm F-32 tank cannon for testing purposes. The high speed of the BT-7 (F-32) allows players to outmaneuver their enemies, while the upgraded high-caliber cannon can take on most enemies in low-rank battles head on.
• P-59A Airacomet: The P-59A is the very first American jet fighter. Developed during World War II, it was never used in real combat. In War Thunder, the Airacomet will finally be able to prove its worth on Rank IV, fighting alongside top piston-engined aircraft which are more or less equal in combat strength.
• AUBL/74 HVG: This modification of the powerful FIAT AUBL/74 is equipped with a high-velocity 60mm cannon featuring a two-plane stabilizer. Its light armor makes it a nimble opponent, able to snipe accurately at enemies over long distances.
• Bf 110C-6: The C-6 modification of Germany’s “Zerstörer” series of aircraft is part of a special program to outfit the Bf 110 fighter with a heavy cannon armament. Units outfitted with the C-6 were used during the Battle of France in anti-tank duty. In War Thunder, they will be a formidable force to deploy both against ground and large air targets, such as bombers.
• River-class Frigate: The Royal Navy’s River-class rose to reputation by escorting convoys, fighting Axis submarines and supporting ground troops during the D-Day landings. With cannons ranging from 20mm to 102mm, it is effective against aircraft and small warships.
• Shiratsuyu-class Destroyer Yūdachi: The Yuudachi was part of the famous “Tokyo Express”, which ran night-supply runs to the embattled Japanese forces on Guadalcanal. With five 127mm primary cannons and two four-barreled torpedo launchers, it is a formidable warship in War Thunder.

To participate in Operation H.E.A.T. and to get access to the exclusive vehicles, players can participate in regular Random Battles, where they earn distinct “Marks of Distinction” for tankers, pilots and captains. By earning enough “Marks of Distinction”, players can unlock prizes, such as decals, camouflages and the aforementioned vehicles. For example, tankers will receive a coupon for the BT-7 (F-32)with five “Marks of Distinction” , a special camouflage for the BT-7 (F-32) with six, the AUBL/74 HVG with ten, and so on. Players can use the vehicle coupons to unlock the vehicles for their own account, or sell them to other players on the Gaijin Market.

Ubisoft has released a brand new PC trailer for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, revealing a range of dedicated PC features.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a military shooter set in a diverse and hostile open world. The game will be playable solo or in up to four-player co-op. Players will discover Auroa, a mysterious island where the most technically advanced facilities meet wild and untamed nature. Home to tech giant Skell Technology, Auroa has fallen into the wrong hands and all contact has been lost.

Players can sign up now for a chance to participate in the Beta phase, which will run from September 5th to 8th, at ghostrecon.com/beta.

Command three legendary heroes against an endless horde!

Dynasty mode brings a brand-new free game mode to Total War: THREE KINGDOMS, designed in collaboration with Intel®. This new horde-style mode allows players to test their survival prowess against waves of enemies with ever-increasing difficulty levels using an army comprised solely of three hero units.

Characters in Dynasty mode are legendarily powerful and have access to a plethora of unique abilities, from healing buffs to area-based attacks which can floor droves of soldiers at a stroke. As your enemies fall to the might of your heroes, they grow in strength and size over time with generals taking to the field of battle every third wave in an attempt to halt your dominance. Defeating them earns your heroes extra points to spend on new skills between waves.

Players can also increase the challenge using the new unit size slider which enables players to drastically increase the unit size of the enemies they face from the standard 80 men up to a gargantuan 960 men per unit. This will test both their heroes’ skills – and their PCs’ performance – to the max!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches October 25, and starting today you can learn all about the highly anticipated multiplayer gameplay coming with the newest entry in the critically acclaimed series. Modern Warfare Open Beta Test Incoming

A key piece of intel that made its way out of today’s event is the plan for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PC open beta test. Everyone who pre-purchases the game on Battle.net will get early access on September 19 and 20, and everyone else can join in from September 21–23.

Specific timing for the PC open beta test will be announced closer to the start date.
