order-of-battle-red-steelIt is the winter of 1942, and the Red Army is about to turn the tide of World War II.

Order of Battle: Red Steel brings you back to the most pivotal chapter of the war. Take command of the forces of the Soviet Union and push back the Wehrmacht, for the Motherland!

It is the second installment of the “Red” trilogy of DLCs which put you in the shoes (or boots) of generals like Zhukov or Konev. The new campaign starts just when Red Star ended, and those who want can play Red Star and Red Steel in sequence, importing their savegames from one campaign to the next and retaining their core army, unlocked commanders and specializations.

Red Steel has 16 new scenarios. Action begins in January 1942 with Soviet attacks at Staritsa, still not far from Moscow. During the harsh Russian Winter, you will need to remain on the offensive as the German army staggers, until the tide begins to turn again in spring 1942.

Then we make a little detour to the Crimean Front, which offers a somewhat different challenge due to its peculiar geographical features.

In summer 1942 the Wehrmacht launches a new grand summer offensive which finally leads to the crucial battle of Stalingrad. This battle plays a major role in Red Steel, and the various developments related to it are featured in several scenarios from autumn 1942 to January 1943.

In the last stage of the campaign, the Germans recover again with another victory at Kharkov. The final scenario gives the player a glimpse of the Kuban air battles, where Luftwaffe and VVS – the Soviet air force – clashed in intense air combat with massive numbers of aircraft involved over the Kuban region in the Caucasus.

Red Steel also adds new unlockable Commanders as well as new Specializations focused on the Lend-Lease aid program, allowing you to get access to American and British planes, tanks and trucks.

Order of Battle: Red Steel is bound for release in Q1 2020. You can take part in the Beta by applying HERE.

World of Warship Players Help Muskogee War Memorial Park Save Historic Submarine

Wargaming has partnered with Muskogee War Memorial Park to raise money to repair the USS Batfish, which experienced extensive damage due to flooding earlier this year. The USS Batfish was integral to naval warfare in WWII, sinking 15 Japanese ships, including three Japanese submarines in just 76 hours, making her the most successful submarine killing sub in history.

The campaign kicks off today with the “Save the Batfish” in-game package. Players will have the opportunity to donate $10 to restore the historic WWII submarine and will receive special rewards for their contributions. Items include eight Dragon Flags and a combat patch similar to the patch worn by the sailors who served on the submarine.

“Working to preserve these ships and their history is part of our mission to ensure future generations can fully understand and remember those who served,” said Ray Hazlip, Regional Publishing Producer at Wargaming. “Our community has shown us how passionate they are about preserving naval history as two years ago they raised approximately $300,000 to restore the USS Texas.

The goal is to help the museum reach $150,000 to cover repairs, which include sandblasting, painting, relocation, a new stabilization platform, and interior floor tiles and gauges which were all damaged by the water. The submarine is an important piece of WWII naval history that the museum wants to protect for future generations.

To those who do not see it, the Batfish represents a weird roadside attraction dedicated to crazy sailors who wanted to honor their lost friends. To the inquisitive mind with an eye for history, a visitor can learn about the value of service, the impact that the United States Submarine Force had on the war in the pacific,” explained Brent Trout, Executive Director of the Muskogee War Memorial Park. “Simply put, our World War II submarine museums are in danger. Some of them are well funded and in the right place, but others are in jeopardy of being scrapped. Protecting the USS Batfish means saving history and protecting the sacrifice of every sailor who called a submarine home.

Donations will be taken through GoFundMe at gofundme.com/f/savetheussbatfish, as well as in the game. On November 22, players will have the opportunity to learn more about the USS Batfish’s history as Nicholas Moran (The_Chieftain) hosts a Charity Stream at twitch.tv/worldofwarships.

silverstone-permafrost-pf240-liquid-coolerBy Krzysztof Hukalowicz @ Guru3D

Today, we are reviewing an AIO cooler from Silverstone: the PERMAFROST PF240. Silverstone is not entirely a newcomer in the AIO segment of the market. In the past, they introduced the Tundra series (120/240 mm), which was available in an RGB version as well. This time around, it’s a fully ARGB LCS, although unfortunately not expandable (similarly to most of the solutions on the market today), unlike the Alphacool Eisbaer 280 Extreme or Swiftech H240 X3 that we reviewed here recently.

AMD late Monday posted Radeon Software Adrenalin 19.11.3 beta graphics drivers. The drivers add optimization for “Fortnite” in DirectX 12 mode introduced through patch v11.20, which is the only item in the change-log. Besides this, the company has acknowledged just like in the 19.11.2 changelog, that it’s firefighting the issue of intermittent display signal loss when gaming with Radeon RX 5700-series graphics cards.

The new Radeon Software Adrenalin 19.11.3 drivers are available online at the AMD driver download page.
