The new update brings the most powerful and famous battleships ever built and more

Gaijin Entertainment announces that the “Leviathans” major content update for the military online shooter War Thunder will be released in early June. It will feature the most powerful battleships ever built including the legendary Bismarck, Yamato and Vanguard, as well as dozens of other interesting military vehicles for all nations.

IJN Yamato is arguably the most powerful battleship ever created. It is equipped with nine 460 mm guns in three turrets, the largest caliber ever fitted to a warship.·It had some of the thickest armor, a sophisticated fire control system, and over 150 anti-aircraft guns. Yamato was built as an apex battleship killer, and it took literally hundreds of US aircraft to overwhelm the air defenses and sink her at the very end of WW2.

German Bismarck became a legend during her very first operations when she sank the battlecruiser HMS Hood after only five salvos and damaged the Prince of Wales battleship. It took the entire Royal Navy Home Fleet to pursue, damage, surround and make a wreck of the lone Bismarck. Bismarck is equipped with eight 380 mm guns, known for their high power, accuracy and extremely good reload speed.

HMS Vanguard was the last battleship ever built, and was commissioned shortly after WW2 ended. Featuring 15 inch guns, decent speed and armor, it has fantastic air defenses and an air recon radar. It was also the British warship with Remote Power Control for her many guns, which meant that the aim of the guns could be controlled from within the armored fire control center.

Badger is the new, modern IFV developed to replace the ageing Ratel IFV in the South African army. The Badger’s turret features a 30 mm GI-30 automatic cannon that is capable of firing sabot, APFSDS and HEI rounds. This is all backed up by a laser rangefinder and thermal imagers, making precision shots at longer ranges easier. Badger is capable of reaching 100 km/h on roads and rough ground, allowing the crew to reach strong positions fast.

The Japanese F-2A fighter jet is an aircraft derived from the American F-16 and designed for the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. While maintaining basic aerodynamics, the aircraft received an enlarged wing utilizing composite materials, a reinforced fuselage and locally developed avionics, including an AESA radar and an integrated fire control system. The F-2A will receive ASM-1 and ASM-2 anti-ship missiles that are new to the game, as well as locally designed short-range AAM-3 anti-air missiles and medium-range AAM-4.

wego-world-war-ii-stalingradHi, I’m Brian Kelly, and together with my collaborator John Duquette, we’re excited to introduce WEGO WWII: Stalingrad, a game that immerses you in one of the most iconic and brutal battles of World War II.

At its core, WEGO WWII: Stalingrad is a hex-based, WEGO-style wargame that puts you in command of the German Sixth Army’s assault on Stalingrad, from the early days of Operation Heron in July 1942 to the intense urban combat in the city during November. What makes this game stand out is its WEGO system, where both players plan their orders and then the movies are executed simultaneously. This adds a layer of unpredictability and strategic depth, forcing you to anticipate your opponent’s actions without knowing exactly what they’ll do next.

Beyond the core mechanics, we’ve added features like fog of war, night turns, and Bridging Engineers, who help cross rivers and destroy or repair bridges. With off-map assets such as airstrikes, intelligence, and special forces, you’ll need to think beyond the front lines to beat your opponent.

You can wishlist the game on Steam.

stronghold-crusader-definitive-editionGood morrow, my liege! After 150,000 demo downloads, three times as many as Stronghold: Definitive Edition achieved back in 2023, Firefly Studios has compiled thousands of players’ feedback for Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition. Channeling these into player requested enhancements, several key improvements are now being made for the game’s release.

Ahead of its July 15th launch, Firefly dives into some of these community requested features and confirms key information on maximum unit counts in their final ‘Feature Spotlight’ development diary.

Demos are vital to the success of our games” said Nick Tannahill, Firefly Studio Head. “We’ve had loads of fantastic feedback come in since our January reveal and first public demo, with enough time to implement many of these requests before launch. We keep our creative vision and goals for the game, while also getting the community involved and giving them a degree of authorship. It’s a win-win for us.

Actively played since its original 2002 release by the Stronghold community, some of Crusader’s most knowledgeable and experienced players have given feedback on Firefly’s upcoming Definitive Edition. This feedback was studied in close detail ahead of the game’s reveal earlier this year, with a second round of suggestions gathered through the demo’s feedback form.

“All Crusader Extreme features will be included in Crusader: Definitive Edition, including the epic 10,000 units cap.”

Among the other features requested by players since January, including raising the overall troop count to a whopping 10,000 soldiers in a single game to match that of Stronghold Crusader Extreme, is the addition of Islamic buildings and related workers for the game’s Arabic and Bedouin Lords, as well as many vital bug fixes. The latter addresses specific exploits and issues discovered by the game’s most dedicated players across more than 20 years of play.

From map sizes up to four times the size of those available in the original, through to custom toggles for skirmish mode and online leaderboards, Firefly are striving to tick every possible box for fans of the original game, collating feedback before and after the reveal. A definitive edition should include absolutely everything players want out of Crusader and that’s what this final version of the game intends to deliver.

icbm-escalationEndless October plunges players into an alternate world where the Soviet Union never fell

Endless October explores this “what if” scenario across 11 missions, beginning in 1950 and extending into the near future — the year 2047.

In this DLC, the Soviet Union emerges from World War II strong, cunning, and ruthless, determined to reshape the world through diplomacy, domination, or nuclear fire. Players will be tasked with raising the Red Banner over every continent, forging alliances, and thriving amidst war and conflict.

The expansion also introduces new Soviet and Russian-style player portraits, and marks the debut of cosmetic loadouts. Depending on the nation they’re playing, players will see appropriate counterparts on the battlefield — their Leopard 1s might appear as T-62s, their F-22s as Su-57s, and so on. Units are automatically represented using faction-specific models to better reflect the historical and stylistic context. Whether simulating Soviet dominance or leading a modernized Russia, players’ forces will look the part.

    What’s new

  • A fully fleshed-out alternate history single-player campaign, featuring 11 missions spanning from 1950 to 2047
  • New cosmetic loadouts, including iconic Soviet units like T-62 tanks and Su-57 fighter jets
  • New leader portraits inspired by Soviet and modern Russian aesthetics
  • Endless October is out now on Steam, with the base game, ICBM: Escalation, on sale at 10%.

    What is ICBM: Escalation

ICBM: Escalation is a grand strategy RTS where players command armies, develop cutting-edge tech, and wield devastating weapons. Conquering enemies with conventional forces or nuclear firepower, with new modes like Standoff and Conquest, gamers will explore deep strategic layers in a global warfare setting.

field-of-glory-kingdomsThe medieval grand strategy game set in 1054 is receiving its first expansion. This new DLC will introduce new lands on the map, playable nations, and never-before-seen mechanics for nomadic and tribal civilizations.

Field of Glory: Kingdoms – Rajas and Tribes highlights new nations such as the Rajput kingdoms of India, the powerful African kingdoms of Ethiopia, Ghana, and many others. Gamers can now play not only as a Western king or emperor, but also as any nomadic or tribal nation present on the map. The map has been extended significantly, spanning several thousand kilometers to the south and east, reaching as far as Delhi in India and encompassing areas along the historic Silk Road.

Watch the Field of Glory: Kingdoms – Rajas and Tribes Gameplay Trailer HERE.

With a focus on nomadic and tribal nations, two major new gameplay mechanics allow them to earn legacy points either through trade or warfare. Combined with their unique buildings, this results in a playstyle that is distinctly different from other nations:

  • The Great Trades serve two key purposes. First, they add depth and historical authenticity to tribal, nomadic, and non-European nations. Second, they provide these nations with a unique way to remain competitive against the dominant powers of the Western and Muslim worlds, such as the Holy Roman Empire, Byzantium, or the Fatimids.
  • The War Campaigns allow to designate specific regions as targets for the next military campaign. This designation of objectives is independent of claim declarations, meaning the two can be combined.
  • Furthermore, the game introduces two additional scenarios: one centered on Alexander Nevsky, the famous Rus’ hero, and the other on the vicious fratricidal conflict between the Guelphs and Ghibellines in Italy.

    What’s New:

  • Expanded Borders and New Playable Nations: the map will include the Indian Subcontinent and the kingdoms of Africa, featuring powerful nations like the Rajput Kingdoms and Kingdom of Ethiopia, offering fresh challenges and dynamics;
  • Nomadic and Tribal Mechanics: playing as a nomadic or tribal nation introduces new ways to accumulate legacy points. Custom trade buildings, powerful war campaigns, and distinct development paths set them apart from the established feudal powers.
  • Two New Scenarios: the strategic depth added to expansion goes even further, with new scenarios:
    1. Alexander Nevsky – Defend the Rus’ against the relentless advance of the Teutonic Knights and Swedish forces, stepping into the role of the legendary hero himself.
Guelphs vs. Ghibellines – Take part in the brutal struggle for dominance in medieval Italy, as factions vie for control under the shadow of the Holy Roman Empire.
