Update 0.8.10 rounds out final part of the new Italian cruiser branch with new in-depth historical collection and unlockable Italian commander, as well as visually updating ten maps and two ports, while also paving the way for the kick-off of a new Ranked Battle Season

Wargaming has today released Update 0.8.10 for World of Warships, completing the full branch of the Italian cruisers with the introduction of a new themed collection and the unlockable historical Italian commander Luigi Sansonetti. The update also brings a host of visual enhancements to ten maps and two ports, and prepares the game for the arrival of a new Ranked Battle Season.

The second installment of the Italian cruisers event kicks off by allowing everyone to research the new warships, all ten of them, while also introducing the “Resolute and Rapid” themed collection, dedicated to highlighting the history of the Italian Navy.

Finishing the whole of this collection grants the unique Italian navy historical commander Luigi Sansonetti who possesses special and powerful in-game effects. His talents activate by achieving specific battle goals such as destroying an enemy ship which will extend the maximum fire range of the main battery guns.

This commander also boasts two enhanced skills: Expert Loader and Torpedo Acceleration. Much like other unique historical Commanders, Luigi Sansonetti comes with specialized personalisation options: a broad pennant, colored shell tracers, and a signal flare that’s fired over the ship when one of his talents is activated.

A new Ranked Battles Season is set to commence in the middle of Update 0.8.10 featuring matches with Tier X ships in an 8v8 format. Only one aircraft carrier per team can be brought, with the total reward for reaching the 1st Rank being 5,500 steel.

Wargaming continues to update the maps and ports in World of Warships so that they make full use of the latest advances of the new lightning model and enhanced HDR technology. Ten maps and two ports, including Solomon Islands, Ring, Two Brothers, Shards, have been updated, as well as the Ocean and Saint Petersburg ports.

Video First in a Series About the Game’s Development and Design

Paradox Development Studio has released an introduction to an upcoming series of videos about the development of Crusader Kings III. In this opening video, Game Director Henrik Fåhraeus lays out his vision for the game, speaking about his history with the franchise and his aspirations for the upcoming grand strategy game.

Future installments of this video series will include summaries of information revealed in the previous month’s Developer Diaries so people can follow along with the game’s development.

Crusader Kings III is the sequel to Paradox’s beloved medieval strategy role-playing game. It was announced last month at the annual Paradox Convention and is scheduled for release in 2020.

Command: Modern Operations will be released in a few days, on November 14th, on the Matrix Games store and on Steam.

NVIDIA today posted GeForce 441.20 WHQL software. The drivers come game-ready for “Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order,” and “Stormland.” This includes SLI support for the latest Star Wars game. NVIDIA also introduced support for CUDA 10.2 compute API. The list of G-Sync compatible monitors has been expanded with three more displays. Among the issues addressed with this release are geometry corruption on GTX 900-series “Maxwell” GPUs with “Red Dead Redemption” in Vulkan; G-Sync getting disengaged when V-Sync is disabled in “Red Dead Redemption.” Vulkan-related errors with “The Surge” have also been fixed. There’s also a surprising bug-fix, “Quake 3 Arena” appearing washed-out when color-depth is set to 16-bit. Performance drops with “CS: GO” have also been addressed.

Outnumbered and outgunned, the Marine pilots of VMF-221 paid a heavy price for their heroic efforts to stem the Japanese onslaught on Midway Atoll.

At 0555 hours on June 4, 1942, the heart-pounding wail of Midway atoll’s air raid siren sent the pilots of Marine Fighting Squadron 221 (VMF-221) scrambling to their aircraft. The island’s air defense radar had detected a swarm of Japanese aircraft—“Many planes, 93 miles, 310 degrees, altitude 11,000 feet”—heading their way, and no pilot wanted to be caught on the ground when they arrived.

Wargaming has teamed up with Lionsgate to promote the new Midway film, premiering worldwide today, by offering a host of special combat missions in the popular naval combat game World of Warships.

Until the 5th of December, World of Warships players can try their hand at special battle missions which, if successfully completed, grant them the IJN Kaga aircraft carrier and the IJN Saipan. Furthermore, selected cinemas in Poland, Czech Republic and Romania will be offering invite codes giving access to valuable content in-game to visitors of a Midway screening. World of Warships trailers will also be shown ahead of the Midway movie in partnership with Cinema City.

Players can jump into the online free-to-play combat game to relive the pivotal Battle of Midway, which saw the United States Navy decisively defeat an attacking fleet of the Japanese Imperial Navy near the Midway atoll in the Pacific Ocean. This decisive engagement of World War 2 has been recreated inside World of Warships with meticulous attention to detail, with players able to command 30 historical ships that took part in this massive naval battle.

Wargaming and its dedicated team of historians and game designers pride themselves on carefully recreating history by using archival documents and official blueprints with each individual warship in World of Warships and its console companion version, World of Warships: Legends.

Today’s release of free maps and a new mode is a precursor to upcoming in-game events, which will bring a ton of free content to players. Everyone can look forward to more celebrations like today along with major community events in support of Modern Warfare. Plus, in addition to new content dropping today, developer Infinity Ward is also releasing a number of quality of life, tuning and play balancing updates across the game.

Uniting The Community

Today’s release of free maps and a new mode is just the start. With the release of Modern Warfare, fans can play together through crossplay and cross progression, and look forward to a ton of new content and the start of live seasons coming free to all players on all platforms.

Additional Multiplayer Map Content

Two free maps are available now; a new traditional Multiplayer map, Shoot House, and a large Ground War map, Krovnik Farmland.

Additional Game Mode Content

Hardpoint

“Capture and hold the zone to earn points for your team.”

Race to secure and defend a specific “hardpoint” on the map, and then repel this zone from enemy incursions. Several times during the match, the hardpoint rotates to a different position around the map, so it’s worth learning the likely location of each hardpoint so you can react accordingly.

When your team is within the hardpoint, your teams’ score increases, though if none of your team have made it to the hardpoint, there are no points gained. A point is gained every second you or a team member (or a group of teammates) is present within the hardpoint. When your team reaches 250 points, you can claim victory.
