To celebrate the release of the new update Tripwire is kicking off a Free Week and sale on Steam that starts later today and runs until 10AM PDT on Tuesday July 16th – Don’t miss this opportunity to play for free and pick up the game at a low price!

After the success of the Christmas Green Army Men seasonal event, Tripwire Interactive, Antimatter Games, and the Green Army Men Mod team agreed to make the Green Army Men mod easily available to all Rising Storm 2: Vietnam players. The result is Rising Storm 2: Vietnam – Green Army Men Beach Party, a DLC add-on, completely complied and easily activated from within the main game.

Rising Storm 2: Vietnam players will beat the heat in this figurine beach bash with vehicles, supporting artillery, mortars, and rockets all turned into toys. The Green Army Men Beach Party DLC also removes fall damage, in order to create a more realistic experience, and includes multiple classes with over 12 weapons. Players can keep it cool on four maps: Beach Party, Backyard, Pool Party, and the returning Green Army Men Christmas map! Fight through sandcastles, building blocks, baseball bats, barbeques and more, all while avoiding getting melted by the enemy team.

All Rising Storm 2: Vietnam players can play Green Army Men Beach Party for free as the Rifleman class. If players want to unlock more classes and support the development team, there is the option to buy the Green Army Men Upgrade, which unlocks all the other classes for Rising Storm 2: Vietnam – Green Army Men Beach Party.

As a way to support the modding community and grassroots game development that helped Tripwire Interactive’s founding members get their start in the industry, all revenue from the Green Army Men Upgrade purchases is shared with the Green Army Men mod team to support their valuable efforts and accomplishment, building high-quality content in their spare time.

Available now on PC, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is the sequel to Rising Storm, PC Gamer magazine’s 2013 ‘Multiplayer Game of the Year,’ published by Tripwire Interactive and developed by Antimatter Games. Command your team to victory in massive 64-player battles with authentic weapons, aircraft, and maps that pit conventional military forces against guerrilla forces.

order-of-battle-red-starOrder of Battle Goes East!

Matrix Games announces its latest expansion for Order of Battle: World War II, Order of Battle: Red Star. This new DLC puts the player in charge of the Soviet army for the first time.

Red Star covers the battles of the Red Army in the years 1938-41.

The game starts with the Battle of Lake Khasan (July 29, 1938 – August 11, 1938), the attempted military incursion by the Japanese from Manchukuo, into territory claimed by the Soviet Union. It continues with the conflict of Khalkhin Gol, the decisive battle of the undeclared Soviet-Japanese Border War. Repel the Japanese and expel them from Mongolia!

Then, get transferred to Europe and participate in the Soviet invasion of Poland (as result of the so-called non-aggression pact with Germany). and win the Finnish forces moving your steps in the gelid Winter War!

The last stage of the DLC from summer 1941 deals with the German invasion of the USSR and ends with the battle of Moscow in Dec. 1941.

This expansion is the first of a planned trilogy covering the full extent of WWII from the Soviet point of view. Much like in the Weltkrieg trilogy you will be able to carry over your forces from one campaign to the next, so expect to be able to continue the fight!

Order of Battle: Red Star is due to release this summer on PC, Mac and Steam. We are currently looking for beta testers willing to provide us with feedback and criticism on the new campaign. If you would like to take part in it, please sign up here!

The Total War Blog announces that mod support has arrived for Total War: THREE KINGDOMS, the latest installment in Creative Assembly’s strategy series. The Assembly Kit and Steam Workshop support are now available, and they have word on some improvements they’ve made to some of the tools in the kit. Here are the details:

We know that modding is an important part of the Total War community, and so we’re happy to officially announce the release of the Assembly Kit and Steam Workshop support for Total War: THREE KINGDOMS.

I’M NOT A MODDER – WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
This means you can expect to see a wide variety of Total War: THREE KINGDOMS mods including unit reskins, balance tweaks, new battle maps, scripted mods, new UI elements, new events, new characters, and much more.

You’ll be able to find these on the Steam Workshop, much like you would for other titles such as Total War: WARHAMMER II or Total War: ROME II. Simply find the mod you like, subscribe to it, and check it’s loaded in the launcher’s mod manager next time you launch the game.

KNOWN ISSUES
There are currently some unexpected issues when downloading custom battle maps through multiplayer lobbies. On occasion, acquiring a map this way can cause the game to become temporarily unresponsive, and may additionally place players in separate lobbies. There is also a crash that can occur when loading a replay after quitting a game on a map acquired through the lobby.

While we are working on a fix, we recommend you acquire maps from the Steam Workshop before attempting multiplayer battles that use them.

AND FOR THE MODDERS?
First and foremost, the modding process will largely remain the same as in previous titles.

As such, if you want to take a dive into modding THREE KINGDOMS we recommend you take a look at some of the guides out there for ROME II onwards to get you ready for release on Thursday the 4th of July.
