command-modern-operationsCommand Showcase: Ford Class is a DLC series of scenarios that will put you in command of the most significant weapons sensors and units in the modern era with new and hypothetical theaters of war.

Your Second challenge:

Russia, in an attempt to break international sanctions, has set up a trade agreement with Angola. Unfortunately, the situation has turned ugly with the death of the Angolan President, back and forth claims of Russian and/or US and/or European interference fused with a fractious domestic political situation boiling down to civil war. While many nations attempt to evacuate non-combatants, Russia has vowed to send ‘Peacekeepers’ and the US is adamant that its Embassy will remain open and US citizens will be protected.

Enter the USS Ford and her dispersed Strike Group, diverted from a scheduled visit to South America. Simultaneously, the Russians divert their newly refitted Battle Cruiser Admiral Nakhimov from a mission to the Mediterranean. Suddenly two of the most powerful ships on the planet are steaming at high speed towards a tinderbox situation.

What could possibly go wrong?

Features:

  • Playable by the US side only and focused on the USS Ford.
  • Configurable air wing for the USS Ford with 10, 14 or 20 F-35s and varying numbers of other aircraft to round out the wing.
  • Randomized starting positions for many elements.
  • P-8, RQ-180 and other high end surveillance aircraft.
  • High end SSNs on both sides.
  • Airborne insertion of US Marines to the US Embassy.
  • A NATO airlift not under the player’s control but needing protection.
  • A fast-moving and dynamic situation on the ground which will complicate the player’s ability to achieve tasks and missions.
  • An escalation mechanism where both Russia and Angola will gradually lose patience with player actions at different rates and for different reasons, and likely start shooting.

Command Showcase: Ford Class will be released on 6th March.

The Command Showcase: Ford Class DLC requires Command: Modern Operations to play.

F-16, MiG-29, Tornado and Dozens of Other New Military Vehicles are Now Available to Players

Gaijin Entertainment announces that the “Apex Predators” update for the online military action game War Thunder is already available to players. The focus here is on the 4th generation jets F-16, MiG-29 and Tornado, however, all game modes have received huge chunks of new content. The voices of fleet officers and crews during a naval battle have been completely reworked, and carrier-based aircraft can now operate from five new aircraft carriers – Shokaku (Japan), Illustrious (GB), Saratoga, Lexington and Enterprise (USA). New ground vehicles have been introduced, i.e. the exotic American M728 engineer tank with a 165mm gun, the French Char 2C bis super-heavy tank, and the Jordanian Khalid MBT. More than 20 aircraft and helicopters now have secondary weapon customization options, and the external fuel tanks feature is available to the new top aircraft.

The Winter Quest event has also started alongside the update release. Players complete missions and fight for prizes like decorations, camouflages and, most importantly, four rare models of vehicles, including the Tornado IDS Marineflieger, a German version of the European Tornado fighter-bomber. It is intended for naval strike aviation, so the Marineflieger does not have access to guided bombs, but the aircraft can carry the AS.34 Kormoran guided anti-ship missiles (new to War Thunder) into battle.

The M728 is a combat engineering vehicle based on the chassis of the M60 tank. It was created in the 1960s and is still in the reserve of the US Army and in service with Saudi Arabia and Oman. The machine is equipped with a crane boom on the turret, a winch, a dozer blade and a 165 mm caliber demolition gun. The M728 was actively used during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars to destroy fortifications and overcome barriers, as well as perform other engineering tasks in the field. Khalid (“sword”) is a modification of the British Chieftain tank, which was originally created for the armed forces of the Shah of Iran under the name “Shir”, but then was finalized for another customer – the Jordanian army. It differs from the original version with a much more powerful engine, as well as a laser rangefinder.

War Thunder mixed battles of ground and air forces will now unfold on the new map “Gold Quarry” that recreates a typical mining and processing plant in the Tien Shan mountains. The teams will have to fight for control points among the rock heaps, between the concrete walls of the workshops and on the territory of the car park with mining dump trucks and bulldozers. In addition, the popular location “Poland” has been given a winter version – with snowdrifts and a frozen lake that you can now risk crossing to attack at the flank of the enemy.

You can read more about these and other new features of “Apex Predators” at the official website of the game.

Darkflow Software and Gaijin Entertainment announce the latest update for their hit military online action game Enlisted. The update, called “High Caliber”, introduces high caliber machine guns, a completely new fighting zone, the Stalingrad Tractor Plant (STP), as well as smoke shells feature. Phosphorus grenades that debuted in the Pacific campaign during the last update are now also available in the Battle of Tunisia and Invasion of Normandy. All these new features will make the already massive and believable Enlisted battles even closer to the real legendary World War II battles.

Watch the Enlisted “High Caliber” Update Trailer HERE.

The new update adds the ability for engineers in machine gunner squads to deploy .50 cal heavy machine guns with, which are capable of piercing through multiple enemy soldiers, tearing the wings off aircraft, and even shredding through the armor of light tanks and SPAAGs. All playable nations in the game will receive one of these machine guns: US Army will use the legendary M2 Browning, the Japanese use the powerful Type 93, the Germans have put an airborne MG-131 into operation, and Soviet soldiers tear the enemy to shreds with the DShK.

Update brings dozens of other new or upgraded pieces of military gear like SIG 1920 submachine gun or the Type Ko rifle, or even the MG 15 with a specialized “Saddle-Drum” double magazine with a capacity of 75 rounds, as well as the RPD-44 machine gun prototype. The new vehicles include a M3 Stuart modification with a flamethrower instead of the hull machine gun, that is excellent to repel enemy infantry approaching from the front.

Wargaming, publisher and developer of World of Warships and World of Warships: Legends, has launched two absolutely packed November updates for their two leading naval MMOs. World of Warships on PC sees playable submarines landing in the tech tree, as well as an impressive selection of Japanese light cruisers entering Early Access. Console players are also treated to new ships and content in World of Warships: Legends with a five-week, 100-milestone campaign where Japanese Premium Tier VIII destroyer Hayate awaits, and a Treasure Chest of pirate content including two new Captains and crates with various plunder inside, including a fistful of guaranteed doubloons.

World of Warships Update 0.11.10 brings a host of graphics improvements to the game. Visuals for a number of maps including “Mountain Range”, “North” and “Strait”have received highly detailed textures, and the “Northern Lights” map has also seen an overhaul to more realistically depict aurora borealis. Vegetation models have also been upgraded across all maps, and ships see improved graphics with a convincing wetting effect implemented, wave divergence changes and dynamic reflections all updated for improved realism.

Kicking off World of Warships November content drop is the introduction of six new Japanese light cruisers to Early Access. These ships are armed with high-damage and high-range torpedoes to strike significant damage on enemies from far away. Further enabling sneak attacks, these cruisers can take advantage of the element of surprise using their good camouflaging. From Tier VII upwards ships in this range sport torpedo tubes equipped with a revolving mechanic, and Tier VIII upwards also see the addition of a large number of main battery guns.

Watch the 0.11.10 update trailer HERE.

These ships are available to players through a wide range of means, with some ships available through consecutive sets like the Agano, Gokase and Shimanto, and others available through combat missions and in random packs.

As these ships enter Early Access, submarines have departed and made their way to the tech tree, with German and American submarines researchable to all players. These covert vessels span Tier VI-X, and can strike lethal damage with their powerful torpedoes. The two nations offer different opportunities for gameplay, as German ships sport long-range acoustically guided torpedoes and a wide margin of autonomy, while the American submarines are equipped with short-range acoustic torpedoes and boast quicker recovery.

The new update brings flamethrower tanks and boats among other new features

Gaijin Entertainment announces that the Fire and Ice update for the military online action War Thunder is already available to players. It adds Finnish air and ground vehicle branches (including the famous BT-42 tank), dozens of other tanks, ships and aircraft like the modern American M1A2 SEP main battle tank with the TUSK kit, the legendary Japanese battleship Fuso, the latest Russian anti-aircraft gun 2S38 “Derivatsia-PVO”, as well as two new maps – “Arctic” and “Rocky Canyon”. The first flamethrower-equipped tanks and boats also debut in the game. Finally, aircraft fuselages will now feature realistic volumetric holes in addition to the local smoke and fire effects, and hitting the water will now produce a new, reworked splash effect.

Check out the trailer HERE.

The British Churchill Crocodile is one of the most famous flamethrower tanks in history. It is built on the design of the Mk.VII version with a 75mm cannon and excellent protection, but also equipped with a flamethrower, which is fed by a fuel trailer attached behind the tank. Thanks to this trailer, the Churchill Crocodile has the largest number of fire mixture charges among tanks, and also is the longest tank in the game. Also debuting in the game is the American flamethrower boat “Zippo”, created during the Vietnam War on the design of the LCM(6) landing craft. Flamethrowers, located on the sides in the bow, will be an excellent tool in battles at close range. Spectacular fires in the jungle can also be started by the American carrier-based A-1H Skyraider attack aircraft that has napalm bombs in its arsenal. Those three vehicle models are available with the release of the Fire and Ice update as prizes for the new Battle Pass season.

Flamethrower tanks are effective in approximately the same situations as the napalm bombings presented in the game earlier. The flame will not cause damage to the crew of a heavily armored vehicle, but light vehicles are extremely vulnerable to it: the fire mixture will instantly destroy the crew in the open cabin and set fire to the equipment. Tank mounts fire long jets of pressurized fire in a cantilevered trajectory, and they can reach the enemy even behind small cover. In addition, the wheel liners of ground vehicles are now ignited by napalm, so after driving through a burning puddle, the player’s tank will look very infernal.

The battleship Fuso entered the service of the Japanese Imperial Navy in 1915, was significantly modernized in the interwar period and participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the largest naval battle of World War II. That late version of Fuso is the one that made it to War Thunder now. The main caliber of the ship is six twin 14-inch guns, evenly distributed over the entire deck of the ship. Good aiming angles and no less decent ballistic characteristics of Fuso allow her to inflict colossal damage on the enemy.

The 2S38 “Derivatsia-PVO” is an anti-aircraft artillery module with a 57mm cannon mounted on a modified BMP-3 chassis. The first prototype of the machine was presented in 2018. The uninhabited turret includes an automatic target tracking for air targets, a laser rangefinder, a coaxial machine gun, a laser warning sensor and a thermal imager. Using the APFSDS rounds, 2S38 can even deal with a tank if it comes in from the flank.

More information about all the new features of the Fire and Ice update is available on the official War Thunder website.
