Creative Assembly is one of the biggest players in the RTS genre – a genre that is exclusive to our platform of choice. You do have leave out some outliers like Halo Wars – of which its second installment was indeed developed by Creative Assembly itself – and Command & Conquer 3, but those are the exceptions that prove the rule: the PC is the place to strategize.

Now, Creative Assembly has announced yet another iteration on their Total War series of game, which borrow from Civilization’s “just one more turn” addictiveness. And this one is set on one of the most cherished IPs in gaming: the Warhammer universe. The first Total War: Warhammer was a poster child for DX 12 integration and performance improvements (at least on the AMD side of the equation). Total War: Warhammer II should also carry some of those optimizations with it, and the second installment in a planned trilogy of RTS titles on the receiving end of the Total War treatment.

call-of-duty-infinite-warfareFeatures Four New Multiplayer Maps Including Re-Imagining of the Modern Warfare 2 Classic, Rust

Activision and Infinity Ward have released the first details for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Continuum, the second DLC Map Pack for 2016’s No. 1 top-selling console video game in the U.K. (excluding hardware bundle sales), Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Featuring four diverse, new multiplayer maps, and a new zombies co-op experience called Shaolin Shuffle, set in a ‘70s era New York disco-zombie fright fest, Continuum is scheduled for release April 18th, first on the PlayStation® Network for the PlayStation®4, with other platforms to follow.

We couldn’t be more excited to deliver a new co-op zombies chapter with Shaolin Shuffle, with an all-new setting and story, that continues the wild and increasingly twisted narrative,” said Dave Stohl, Studio Head of Infinity Ward. “For multiplayer, we’re creating a diverse set of maps from Turista and Scrap, to Archive, that cater to various play styles in cool ways and allow fans to experiment with different rigs and loadouts. And then there’s Rust, one of our all-time favourite maps from Modern Warfare® 2, re-imagined and now called Excess to complete the multiplayer package.

Shaolin Shuffle, the next thrilling chapter of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare zombies experience, features the return of Willard Wyler, the mysterious movie director villain portrayed with voice and likeness by Paul Reubens (Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, Gotham). This time, Wyler has trapped the four protagonists inside a new horror film, set in the unforgettable 1970s. Players will face all-new zombie enemies across a variety of disco-era New York locations, including subways, flashy nightclubs and a martial arts dojo headed up by the “Shaolin Sister,” played with voice and likeness by Pam Grier (Jackie Brown, Foxy Brown). In addition to hallmark Call of Duty action, Shaolin Shuffle introduces four unlockable kung-fu fighting styles, each with its own set of unique combat moves. Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Austin Powers) as “the Punk Rocker;” Ike Barinholtz (Neighbours, Suicide Squad) as “the Sleazebag;” Jay Pharoah (Saturday Night Live, Ride Along) as “the Street Poet;” and Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live, Inside Amy Schumer) as “the Disco Chick,” all return from the ongoing story in this all-new experience.

In addition to the Shaolin Shuffle zombies content, Continuum will also include four new multiplayer maps:

  • Turista – A plush spa and resort, Turista is nestled in the middle of a giant skeleton of an ancient creature. With sniper spots scattered across a majestic, central waterfall, Turista also boasts tight interiors for fans of close-quartered combat and a three-lane design that caters to a variety of play styles.
  • Scrap – Set in an abandoned junkyard on the Moon, Scrap features a combination of extended sightlines and tactical pathways that reward players who engage in both long and short range combat.
  • Archive – Fast, frenetic engagements set the pace in Archive, a post-futurist art gallery where tight engagements contrast with open exterior battlegrounds in this wide three-lane style map.
  • Excess – Perched atop a gilded penthouse in a sprawling future metropolis, Excess is a small, circular map re-imagined from the classic Modern Warfare 2 map, Rust, that retains the intense, fast-paced combat from the original.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Continuum DLC Map Pack is available for a great value via the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Season Pass, which can be purchased on its own or obtained as part of the Legacy Pro or Digital Deluxe editions of the game. Season Pass gives discounted access to all four Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare DLC Map Packs released during 2017. Upon purchase, Season Pass owners also receive the three new base weapons released to date, as well as 10 Rare Supply Drops and 1,000 bonus Salvage Credits to craft new prototype weapons.

With Ryzen forging its path, we’re starting to get a few more AM4 motherboards, which means that we can evolve from AMD 970 chipset comparisons to a more level competition. We caught some flak from readers regarding reference data, choice of GPU, and limited depth in our review of the ASRock X370 Taichi.

Next up: the ASRock X370 Gaming K4. It’s back to the Fatal1ty series and placing the focus back onto gaming.

AMD has released its Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 17.4.1 drivers. These drivers add support for Oculus Asynchronous Spacewarp (ASW) on Radeon R9 Fury series, Radeon R9 390 series and Radeon R9 290 series graphics cards; and support for SteamVR Asynchronous Reprojection on Radeon RX 480 and Radeon RX 470 (requires Windows 10). The drivers also enable DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 mode on GPUs based on the “Polaris” architecture, letting you run 8K @ 60 Hz over a dual-cable connection, and 8K @ 30 Hz over a single cable. The drivers also fix display fickering noticed on AMD FreeSync setups running 3D applications in borderless-fullscreen mode, and bad multi-GPU scaling in “Ghost Recon: Wildlands.”

Gaijin Entertainment has announced that its military MMO masterpiece War Thunder will begin to feature modern ground and air vehicles, expanding the game’s technology tree from five ranks to nine. Tankers of War Thunder can look forward to modern main battle tanks such as the renown M1A2 Abrams and T-14 Armata, while the game’s pilots will see supersonic jet aircraft like the F-22 Raptor and T-50 PAK FA, as well as a multitude of attack helicopters.

Players can already read about some of the upcoming vehicles in the Developer’s Blog, where the main battle tanks Leopard 2A5 and T-90A as well as the attack helicopters GA-64 and Mi-35 will be presented in great detail, including several images. Further information on how to access the vehicles in War Thunder will also be made available on the official website.

Our players often reach out to us with requests and wishes for the introduction of modern vehicles to War Thunder,” says Kirill Yudintsev, Creative Director of Gaijin Entertainment. “In fact, even way before the release, we have already begun to run large-scale internal testing and preparations, as we see this as great opportunity to expand the historical framework of our game. This weekend, we are finally able to present the first results of our efforts.

Updated research trees with a broad array of new vehicles for the army, air and naval forces of all nations will be published soon on the game’s official website. winSPWW2 10.01 Replaces winSPWW2 10.0 and winSPMBT 11.01 Replaces winSPMBT 11.0

Every once and a while corrections become necessary. You can always count on Camo Workshop to make corrections efficiently and immediately. The new upgrades for winSPMBT and winSPWW2 are now available. These upgrades replace the upgrades from March 3rd. A description of the changes follow.

A couple of obscure but serious database errors were discovered in the Orders of Battle (OOBs) in both games after the latest patches were released. That lead to the discovery that an error that we had thought had been corrected in the coding of the master unit cost calculator a year ago had resurfaced and after tracking that down and checking the recalculated OOB’s it was discovered that perhaps 5% of the units in the games had incorrect costs. The problem is , in the two games combined, five percent of the units is about 2,400 units.

Most of those cost errors were minor in the 1-2 point range but some unit classes like attack Helicopters as well as SEAD and COIN aircraft in winSPMBT for example were out by 20 points or so and the ground attack unit class in winSPWW2 was out by a bit less but roughly the same amount.

Since this was also a year a new version of the CD was being created we could not knowingly ship the new CD with these errors so the decision was made to correct the CD before it was released and that meant a revised patch needed to be issued.

Those who have ordered the physical, safebox, version of these games will be receiving the latest 10.01 and 11.01 versions. Those who ordered the download versions will be receiving new download links to the 10.01 amd 11.01 versions. Those who were just upgrading using the patches can go to the games’ product pages to get the new upgrade patches. Just look for the links under the ‘Downloads’ section.

For those who ordered the download version, all the new download links will go out today. The physical safebox versions will start shipping today, but will take through tomorrow to ship all games. All orders will ship in the order received. Those who ordered the safebox games will receive an email when your order ships.

Please note if you are currently playing in a secure PBEM game applying the patch WILL cause your game to FAIL. So be smart, wait until completing your game, and then make sure to patch up.

The Camo Workshop regrets the errors and the necessity of issuing updated game patches so soon but we strive to release the best possible game we can and sometimes that means things like this will happen from time to time.

afghanistan-11-boxBy Ian Boudreau @ The Wargamer

Now approaching its sixteenth year, the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan is the longest armed conflict in American history, and arguably one of the most difficult to capture in a wargame format. That’s probably why Afghanistan ‘11 isn’t really a wargame, but rather a strategy game about a specific kind of war: counterinsurgency. As such, the game is less concerned with enemy casualty counts and focuses instead of the decidedly fuzzier notion of “winning hearts and minds” as laid out in the COIN theory.
