Month: February 2017

command-live-korean-missile-crisisNorth Korea has been a pariah for many decades among the International Community. Its totalitarian regime has strongly pursued the policy of “military-first” (or Songun), building one of the largest military apparatus in the world.

His ambitions have achieved a new phase with the active development of a nuclear deterrent, and different warheads have been tested in the last years, violating numerous UN resolutions.

What if he develops the capacity to directly hit the continental area of the United States? What kind of response would this threat trigger?

Korean Missile Crisis is the latest installment in the acclaimed Command LIVE series, and it aims to explore a scenario where Russia and the US are competing to put an end to Pyongyang’s ambitions

Have you ever met someone for the first time and felt like you hit it off with that person right away? I had that feeling with EpicGear at CES 2017. To be fair, they had shiny new tech and that kind of thing usually happens with my extroverted personality anyways. Still, EG had an impressive CES display and now we get the opportunity to take an up close and personal look at their equipment. EG is a subsidiary of Geil, who you probably recognize for the RAM products. EG however, is specializing in gaming peripherals and I like the concepts they are trying to succeed on. Today we’re going to start the reviews with the Defiant Keyboard and the MMS Mechanical Keyswitches. That’s because we’ll also have a mouse, a cable manager and headset reviews coming shortly hereafter. It seems like EG is offering some great options in the gaming peripheral market, but we’ll need to take a closer look to really get a feel for how “Epic” their gear actually is. While I’m not worried about their chances, let’s first take a look at a beautiful logo I cropped out of the website and a quick statement about the company. By the way, did you know GeIL was an acronym? It was news for me as well.

nzxt-aer-rgb-fanBy Peter Donnell @ eTeknix

“RGB ALL THE THINGS!” has certainly been the unofficial motto of the tech industry this year, and while some may be getting tired of the lack of new products, unless you count the 2015 models with new lighting, I’m honestly loving every bit of it. We can’t expect rampant innovation with every hardware generation, so this year we went sideways and made things colourful. When it comes to creating a unique and aesthetically pleasing desktop environment, it certainly doesn’t hurt to have options. This is where the new Aer RGB 120 and 140mm fans from NZXT come into play!

historical-article-have-you-heard-yamamotoBy Joseph Conner @ WWII Magazine

They did it. On April 18, 1943, 16 U.S. Army Air Forces fighter pilots from Guadalcanal flew more than 400 miles to ambush Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto as he flew to Balalae airfield in the Solomon Islands. They sent the Japanese Combined Fleet’s commander in chief to a fiery grave in the jungles of Bougainville. The United States had exacted revenge against the architect of the Pearl Harbor attack and one of the Imperial Navy’s highest-ranking officers—but at what cost?

syrian-warfare-logoDeveloper Cats Who Play have revealed their new single-player RTS project, Syrian Warfare, will be released on February 21, 2017. The game will be released on Steam versions in two languages, English and Russian. With the release announcement, a new gameplay video has been released. You can view it here.

Here’s some game info:

Our planet has seen to many wars, and that’s a sensitive subject for all of us. That’s the way the world wags, and every day we see consequences of numerous conflicts taking place in faraway lands. We see them in the news, we see them in the refugees at our borders.

This war has been going on for a long time, and it’s hard to say when it will be over. We got so used to it that news from Syria has become trivial. We’ve even already forgotten how it all started, and where the roots of the terrible terror lie – the terror that swept across Europe in recent years.

Syria is all over the news, and it’s become a subject of many documentaries. We, however, want to show the story through the lens of the game, and don’t let the word “game” mislead you. This game does not claim to be a history lesson, but it shows the course of the war in all its seriousness through the major milestones, from the first days till the latest important victories over terror.

Syrian Warfare is:

  • Real Time Strategy game with a high degree of realism.
  • Detailed simulation of modern weapon systems.
  • Close to reality tactical actions of different types of troops.
  • Game based on a true story.
  • Realistic graphics.

It’s is not a cheap actioner, but rather a game claiming to look and feel like a non-fiction doc. Following the game progress will bring you to better and clearer understanding of the hornet’s nest that has been stirred up in the Middle East. Understanding of how it all started and how all sides of the conflict tend to act now. We do understand the seriousness of the subject and we are not afraid to take on it.

escape-from-tarkov-logoBattlestate Games, developers of Escape from Tarkov, the hardcore FPS/MMO hybrid, have recently announced some new changes to the game – the core change being to the “Customs” map, which now offers several new tactical opportunities to players.

The Customs location now features a new way to cross the river along with an expanded (and ever-deadly) factory. Add to that additional hidden and visible passageways, loot spawn points and player spawn points – and the Customs location Raid becomes even more challenging than before!

Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore story-driven MMO featuring elements of FPS and RPG. The events take place in the Russian city of Tarkov, which has been sealed off by roadblocks and sunk into the chaos of local warfare between private military companies. Escape from Tarkov’s Hazardous Environment Combat Simulator employs a number of custom system modules to create incredibly immersive gameplay and make players feel the reality of what is happening in the game.

The closed beta-testing of Escape from Tarkov is planned for 2017. To learn more about Escape from Tarkov and to sign up for closed beta, visit the games official website.

Players can get guaranteed access to Escape from Tarkov testing stages by placing a pre-order on the games official pre-order page.

sniper-ghost-warrior-3-logoGet an Early Preview of the Game in the Shoes of Jon North

Beginning today and lasting until Feb. 5, a special Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 beta is available worldwide for PC players on Steam. Players can still register (till the end of day) here and get exclusive access to two single-player missions in the beautiful open-world setting of the Republic of Georgia: Cut Off and Blockout.

In honor of the beta kick-off, CI Games invites everyone to watch a new video highlighting what players will get to experience in the beta.

“We’d like to give everyone who registered for the beta a big THANK YOU. You have to throw away everything you know about the series, since Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is a redefinition of the franchise developed from scratch and with a much-higher budget,” said Marek Tymiński, CEO of CI Games. “This beta includes two single-player missions from the beginning of the game, and is just a glimpse of what you’ll experience in the full open-world game. Every bit of feedback you give is invaluable to us, and we’ll listen closely to all comments. We’re committed to making Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 one of the best games you’ll play this year, and will do everything we can to meet your expectations. It’s a real treat to know the game will soon be played by so many of our fans.”

Below are descriptions of the two missions available in the beta:

Cut Off
The Separatists control a large antenna array, which lets them use satellites to track enemy movements and communicate with distant outposts. Jon needs to infiltrate this compound and manually reposition the dishes to intercept the satellite signal. Gaining access to enemy communications would give Jon and his team a tactical advantage over the enemy, as well as possible intelligence on his brother, Robert.

Blockout
Jon’s cooperation with the local resistance, the Rotki Lions, gave him the location of one of the targets from his Most Wanted list – a list containing the names of war criminals that Jon can neutralize to bring justice to the people of Georgia. The target is Ivan Krustchev. He’s hiding out in an abandoned apartment complex, surrounded by his guards. How will you complete this mission? Will you use your sniper rifle from the opposite building, storm the outpost with your assault rifle, or sneak past the guards and quietly take out your target?

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 launches on the PlayStation®4 system, Windows PC and Xbox One on April 4, 2017.

nzxt-x42-x52-x62-liquid-cpu-coolerBy Brian Nyhuis @ Legit Reviews

It has been a while since we’ve had a chance to take a look at NZXT cooler, but in the past, we’ve been highly impressed with their products. Quite frankly, there hasn’t been a whole lot of innovation in the CPU cooler market, because it’s just tough to improve on something that’s already awesome. Instead, we see a lot of manufacturers adding visual improvements to the coolers to help make them stand out, but this really only helps for those who have windowed cases. Today we’re going to take a look at a trio of NZXT Kraken coolers, called the Kraken X42, X52, and X62. These coolers are updated version of the already successful X41 and X61 with a little added flare and were released just this past November.

NVIDIA released the GeForce 378.57 Hotfix drivers, designed to address glaring bugs. The driver update fixes a critical game crash bug noticed in “Minecraft” and other Java-based titles; and resolves “debug mode” being the default mode on GPUs based on the “Pascal” architecture. The rest of their features appear consistent with older releases. Find the driver from the links below.
