Changelog:

  • Generals’ names appear on their tiles
  • Generals may now move for free on their own (no activation cost).
  • Players may discard Event Cards when their hand gets full and they can accordingly draw a different card if desired.
  • When a nation’s capital is taken, there is a percentage chance that it will surrender every turn that it is occupied. This means that nations will hold out longer and have a better chance to re-capture their capital and to receive help from other nations before surrendering. This applies to the ‘General’ and ‘Emperor’ levels of difficulty.
  • The Friendly Neutral period has been extended from 6 to 9 turns (‘Corporal’ level of difficulty only).
  • Improved strategic AI on re-taking capitals
  • Improved strategic AI for Russia: Being more aggressive in driving more armies into Austria and Prussia
  • Improved tactical AI
  • Adding a combat bonus for Cavalry vs. Disordered Cavalry. This means that attacking infantry with cavalry is more dangerous if there is enemy cavalry in the same area.
  • ‘Passing’ in the advanced battles. When the player ‘passes’, the AI automatically wins initiative for the next move.
  • The 1800 scenario now lasts until 1815
  • A few small improvements in the strategic AI dealing with Russia and the Ottoman Empire.
  • There is now a small political cost when France declares war. The exact cost depends on the level of difficulty.
  • A few minor reliability fixes.
  • Improvements in user control over the game’s hardware preferences.

CI Games has moved the Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 worldwide release date to 27th January 2017. It’s due on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The statement was made by CI Games for the Warsaw Stock Exchange but was spotted by Eurogamer Poland and then relayed to me.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 had been due this year. This game will be the biggest and most expensive in the popular series so far. There’s a new parkour system this time, there are vehicles, and there are War Crimes side missions, gruesomely.

Find out more about Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 at the games official website.

Experiencing the finer points of all-out war in a truly grand strategy simulation.

By TJ Hafer, IGN

Hearts of Iron 4 is an incredibly complex World War II simulation that will require potentially hundreds of hours to master, both in-game and poring over wiki articles that read like an economics textbook. And as someone eager to invest that kind of time into a game as long as it continues to reward me with new layers of depth, I consider that a very good thing. Thanks to an unusually striking look and clean, easily navigable interface, the biggest challenges we Hearts of Iron 4 presents us with are the good kind: strategic planning, division composition, and fine-tuning economic and political policies. The payoff is brilliant for those willing to put in the time to learn.

The Division website announces that Ubisoft is adopting one of those trendy (and quite welcome) zero tolerance policy toward those caught cheating in multiplayer games in Tom Clancy’s The Division. They say to date they have already taken action against over 30,000 accounts and have issued 3,800 permanent bans. It sounds like that latter number is going to rise, as they say they are now applying perma-bans on a first offense. Here’s word:

As a direct result of this improved cheat detection, last month we announced “the biggest wave of suspensions and bans to date”. This marked the beginning of an intensive campaign during which actions were taken against a total of over 30,000 accounts, including 3,800 permanent bans. This led to a significantly improved experience, particularly in the Dark Zone.

Following this campaign of suspensions and bans, it also became clear that while huge progress has been made in terms of cheat detection, our 14 days suspension on first offense policy has not been dissuasive enough. Judging from your feedback, and based on what we witnessed when cheaters came back to the game, we have now decided to push our policy one step further: we will now start applying permanent bans on first offense when players are caught using cheat engines and we will communicate clearly when new ban waves are taking place.

Latest 1.59 update will provide four new missile firing tanks, two new maps and twenty five new vehicles

Gaijin Entertainment today announced that War Thunder’s 1.59 update, titled, ‘Flaming Arrows’, introduces four new tanks armed with player guided anti-tank missile weaponry. One missile firing tank will be introduced for four of the War Thunder nations. This type of player guided missile ordnance will bring a totally new short and long range destructive capability to ground battles in War Thunder, thus expanding the number of tactics and strategies players can employ.

The four anti-tank missile vehicles consist of the Soviet IT-1, a formidable armoured platform which makes up for its lack of a main gun with a consignment of ATGM’s.The low-profile German Raketenjagdpanzer-2 which provides a sleek and fast anti-tank armoured asset which can fire two missiles in succession and the fast Vietnam-era US M551 “Sheridan’’ with its ability to launch both artillery and ATGMs. Last but not least, the Swedish Strv 81 lends its support to the British tank tech tree and packs a particularly powerful punch with its three ATGMs which can penetrate any armour in War Thunder. Check out the destructive capabilities of the anti-tank guided missile here.

War Thunder’s latest Flaming Arrows update also adds two new maps to the mix: Port Novorossiysk situated on the coast of the Black Sea with combined battles, and a new 128×128 km map for aircraft dogfights over the English Channel, situated over the English and French coasts. For the Novorossiysk map Gaijin Entertainment’s painstaking attention to detail saw its artists create some incredible map design work based on archive data, photographs, historic air recon intelligence photos and newsreel footage. The map provides a good all round scope of gameplay with its wide avenues for quick decisive armoured breakthroughs or cat and mouse pursuit among the ruins.

Additionally, Flaming Arrows adds 25 new vehicles across five of the nations in the game, increasing the total number of vehicles in the game to more than 700. USA will get a floating tank LVT(A)1 and powerful T29, the Brits will get the Halifax Mk B.III bomber and Wyvern S.4 naval strike aircraft. Germany adds the dreaded Sturer Emil SPG, and the Soviets add a jet in the form of the Yak-30, as well as two paratrooping SPGs. Japan gets three new aircraft in total, including the N1K1Ja and the N1K2.

One additional addition to this latest War Thunder update is the He 219. Nicknamed the ‘Eagle-Owl’ this German night fighter is the first aircraft to be added to War Thunder through the the games revenue share program and was created by a member of the War Thunder community. The He 219 – was designed and built as a combined effort between the community (model, textures) and the War Thunder developers (flight model, damage model, armament) and takes its place as a rank 4 vehicle in the German research tree.

A new visual makeover to the hangars for both planes and tanks also updates the look.

Be sure to check out all the latest additions to this update on the games devblog here.
