Source: Blue's News
The Galactic Command Online website now heralds the coming of Galactic Command Online, the MMOG that 3000AD started teasing at the beginning of this month. The game will follow 3000AD's focus on space and planetary combat, and it is said to be "due to be released between Q4/2010 and Q1/2011," offering both a microtransaction-supported subscription-free mode as well as premium subscriptions. 3000AD also tells us this is intended as their last game, not because they are leaving the game business, but that they foresee supporting this over the years going forward with expansions and other updates. The website offers some pre-alpha screenshots and a pre-alpha video trailer along with an extensive FAQ covering various aspects of the project.

Ubisoft CEO says newly acquired World in Conflict dev will start with "light" online games and build into MMORPGs and MMORTSs.
By Tom Magrino, GameSpot
With the acquisition of the Tom Clancy brand in March, Ubisoft signaled its intent to enter the massively multiplayer online gaming sphere. Indeed, the French publisher's president and CEO, Yves Guillemot, said that when the deal was announced, a primary motivator for the deal was that it would allow Ubisoft to explore a Tom Clancy-branded massively multiplayer project.
Now, with this week's buyout of World in Conflict-maker Massive Entertainment, Guillemot has apparently found the vehicle for taking the next step into the MMOG market. Speaking at the BMO Capital Markets Interactive Entertainment Conference yesterday, Guillemot said the first order of business from the former Activision Blizzard studio would be to get its feet wet by making small-scale MMOGs.
