Wargaming, the leading free-to-play MMO developer and publisher, today announced details for Update 8.6 for World of Tanks. The new update will bring further changes and balance to the in-game economy, as well add new SPGs to push that armor line to tier X.

“Update 8.6 is a major step in game balance enhancement and is really going to make SPGs players happy," said Mike Zhivets, producer on World of Tanks. Current tier 8 SPGs will be promoted to tier X, while the newly introduced SPGs in Update 8.6 will take their place in the middle tiers. The American tech tree will be bolstered with M44 and M53/55 artillery units, while the Soviet line will be filled out with SU-122A and SU-14-1. Lastly, the French will receive AMX Obusier automoteur de 105 and Bat.Chatillon155 (55) artilleries.

Update 8.6 will also introduce a new premium British medium tank, the A33 Excelsior, and will also introduce a new map based in Korea.

Source: Blue's News

Here's a new trailer from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag where Ubisoft offers some cinematics and couple of glimpses of gameplay to promote how they will tell the "true stories" of famous historic pirates in "the real golden age of piracy," which followed the golden age of highway robbery, and proceeded the golden age of stock swindles, glorious times villainized by the lamestream media. Here's a bit on the truthiness this all exposes:

Included with the trailer is an infographic riddled with facts about the Golden Age of Pirates in the 18th century. We’ve referenced multiple sources to provide a visual introduction to the period. You’ll learn about the events that made this Age of Piracy possible, get a taste of the living conditions that might make an honest sailor turn pirate, and uncover some of the key places, people and events that you will experience in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag.

Assassin's Creed 3: Tyranny of King Washington - Episode 2 DLC Review

Posted by Donster on: 2013-03-20 17:33:08 in category: Action/Action Strategy News [ Print ]

Unlock the power of flight in the second episode of Ubisoft's bizarre alternate reality DLC

By Andy Kelly for CVG UK

In the last episode, Connor learned the power of the Wolf Cloak, which allows you to turn invisible as you move between cover. In this episode the power he unlocks is much more dramatic: the power of flight.

It's the eagle whose magical powers Connor - sorry, Ratonhnhaké:ton - has harnessed this time, and it works in much the same way as Batman's grapnel in the Arkham games. Aim the camera at pretty much any surface until an icon appears, then hit the power button to transform into a shimmering eagle and fly towards it. Like the Wolf Cloak, earning Eagle Flight involves navigating a series of platforming challenges in a dreamlike spirit world.

Fire Arrows and Verdant Forest Map Arrive Today, F2P Weekend and Live Stream Coming This Week

Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games and a local fire hazard monitor, today ignited the latest free content update for War of the Roses, the medieval squad combat title from Fatshark. The new update, titled “Outside the Law,” adds a new map, new weaponry, and new armor to the brutal warfare of War of the Roses, as well as a new method of attack for both Lancastrian and Yorkist archers: fire arrows, capable of igniting a foe from across the battlefield.

“Outside the Law” takes the ongoing war to Greenwood, an all-new forest map whose lush greenery will be spattered with red as armies fight across its hills and valleys, dodging fallen trees and abandoned tent camps. The fire arrows will fly relentlessly from both sides, especially with two new bows available for archers, the Elm Self Bow and the Yew Self Bow.

Hand-to-hand combatants will have to stay moving in order to dodge the fiery volleys, and strike back with new weapons including the Woodsman’s Axe, Headsman’s Axe, Shillelagh Mace, and Quarterstaff. Failing that, they will at least have access to new armor pieces such as the Bycocket Hat to keep them alive.

World of Warplanes Gets Major Update

Posted by Donster on: 2013-02-19 16:06:58 in category: Action/Action Strategy News [ Print ]

Wargaming, the award-winning video games developer and publisher, today announced that World of Warplanes, currently in closed beta, has been updated with a completely overhauled flight model as well as improved mouse controls on US and RU clusters. European players will get the update on February 20th. The new flight model adds more thrills to aerial combat and a more dynamic feel to the gameplay. This change also allows players to focus less on their efficiency in piloting and more on their mastery of technical skills.

The flight MMO action game that welcomed a line of Japanese warbirds not long ago has been streamlined with a new flight model and evolved mouse controls, allowing pilots to quickly grasp the fundamentals of flight and dedicate more time to edge-of-your-seat combat.

"It took us six months to make sure every tidbit of the flight model was just right, and we are pleased and happy with the results", said Anton Sitnikau, World of Warplanes Producer. "Now that we've maximized the comfort and ergonomics of aircraft controls, tactical thinking and skills have really come to the forefront."
The new flight model and mouse controls go along with heavily reworked graphics, adding extra realism to intense dogfighting.

New Turn-based Asynchronous Tactics Game Features Cross-platform Play Between PC, Mac, iOS, and Android

Paradox Interactive, a publisher of games and a wearer of lifejackets, and developer Pieces Interactive today announced the forthcoming release of a new tactical action game, Leviathan: Warships, for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android platforms. The game, which challenges players to assemble customized fleets of warships and weaponry, will feature cross-platform gameplay across all supported platforms, allowing battles to be fought from nearly any computer, tablet, or location. With a full co-op campaign and several player-vs.-player (PvP) maps ready to put fleets to the test, Paradox reminds players that their tablets will not function as flotation devices.

In Leviathan: Warships, players will choose from a wide array of ship and weapon types to build a personalized fleet and fight battles in a unique blend of action and turn-based gameplay. Captains can take their time to plot out their turn, assigning moves and attacks to their ships, and then witness the chaos of battle as each fleet engages their maneuvers in simultaneous action sequences. With Leviathan: Warships, Paradox puts the sea in the cloud, allowing players to start a session from their tablet and continue their cloud-saved skirmish from their computer, challenging foes on any available device.

Chinese armory advances conquest of World of Tanks

Wargaming today announced that Update 8.3 for its massively popular MMO action game World of Tanks, complete with the addition of a brand new nation, the Chinese, is now live in Europe and Southeast Asia. The lower tiers of the new tech tree feature a hotchpot of various foreign designs, including the first Japanese-made tank in the game - the Type 97 Chi-Ha. Heavy Soviet influences are reflected in the top-tier tanks, which also include a number of original Chinese models, some of which never went into mass production. Decent armor, impressive mobility and accurate guns with high damage potential make the Chinese tanks fearsome opponents to face off.

Paradox Issues Free Challenge Map for Celebrating Wizards, Title Has Sold 1.8 Million Copies to Date

Paradox Interactive would like to wish Magicka a very happy birthday, as the game reaches the two-year anniversary of its release. Unfortunately, the Magicka wizards attempted to light their own candles on the cake, and as punishment for the resulting damage to the Paradox offices, the publisher is giving Magicka’s presents away to players instead, out of spite. A new piece of DLC is now available for Magicka players, free of charge, entitled “Free Jólnir’s Workshop”.

To further punish the wizards, Paradox will be having them work without pay over the weekend as Magicka will have a free-to-play period this weekend only. Anybody will be allowed to download and play the game during this period without giving the wizards so much as an IOU. To learn more about how to play during this celebratory window, visit http://www.magickagame.com/.

America's angsty teenage years provide the backdrop for the biggest Assassin's Creed yet

By Andy Kelly for CVG UK

Amazingly, this is the fourth Assassin's Creed game in four years. But while Brotherhood and Revelations felt like ambitious expansions, Assassin's Creed 3 is more of a sequel. The world is bigger and more complex, combat has been streamlined, climbing feels more natural and intuitive, and we're introduced to a new setting and hero for the first time since baby Ezio came screeching out of his mother's womb. But some things haven't changed. There are problems here that have plagued the series since the first game, and they stick out like a Redcoat in the snow.
