Ahh, the holiday season is upon us. Publishers rush to get their latest and greatest out and websites find advertising money in their stockings. We grizzled gamers hope to either receive one of the new games or at least have some money left to get one. Yet, is a brand new game really a nice gift to give somebody? New games always have bugs and kinks that can frustrate somebody who wants to enjoy a gift quickly. Nothing can turn off a newcomer to our hobby more rapidly. No, we should consider a tried and true gem, tested by hordes of players, patched and modded to perfection. Our recipient can just sit down, install and enjoy. Of course, the fact that most of these games now cost between $20 - $30 USD from the 'net has nothing at all to do with our calculations...
