WW2RTS (Wartime Command) Preview

Remember about a year ago when Codemasters was eagerly hyping a new wargame called Wartime Command? It was a real-time simulation of infantry and armored warfare set across the span of World War II, and it captured the attention of wargamers because of its tremendous focus on getting everything just right. The minute details of a German Tiger or an Elefant tank were shown off in a series of developer updates, demonstrating their grognard-like obsession with detail. The game even drew favorable comparisons to two legendary games, Close Combat and Combat Mission.

Unfortunately, like other projects under the Codemasters umbrella (see Operation Flashpoint and Soldiers: Heroes of World War II), Wartime Command went into a limbo state at some point last year. However, all is not lost: The Wargamer was able to see “World War II Real-Time Strategy” (WW2RTS) at Russian publisher 1C’s E3 booth, receiving a status update on the game formerly known as Wartime Command.
