Electronic Arts late yesterday issued word via the Battlefield 2 website that their hotly awaited first person shooter title, Battlefield 2, has gone gold. Developed by Digital Illusions CE, the title is slated for release on June 21st, 2005. Battlefield 2 is expected to include three unique military superpowers: The U.S., China or a newly formed Middle East Coalition. Additionally, players will have over 30 vehicles at their destructive disposal in addition to multiplayer support for up to 64 players.
DICE continues:
"Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates. With the new online character ranking and persistence, players increase their rank and unlock awards, including new weapons, medals, and more."
