Ubisoft abandons trademarks for OTT Gearbox shooter.

By Fred Dutton @ Eurogamer

Rumours are circulating that lunatic WWII shooter Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 has been euthanised.

Twitter detective Superannuation spotted that publisher Ubisoft recently abandoned its trademarks relating to the game.

Beyond that, nothing has been heard of the game since its announcement last June. A release schedule circulated by Ubisoft last month gave it a vague "Calendar 2012" launch window, but with dates for Assassin's Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 already set and marketing campaigns well underway, the lack of noise around Furious 4 is rather surprising.

When asked for comment by Kotaku, an Ubisoft spokesperson replied, "We don't have anything to share at this point in time."

We're following up with developer Gearbox and will update should things become any clearer.

Gearbox certainly has a lot on its plate right now - aside from Furious 4, it's also prepping both Borderlands 2 and Aliens: Colonial Marines.
