Review: BenQ RL2460HT 24" Gaming Monitor

Posted by Donster on: 2014-05-24 10:27:54 in category: Monitors / Display [ Print ]

Author: AkG @ Hardware Canucks

The all new $288 BenQ RL2460HT isn’t your average 1080P monitor, not is it meant for the average consumer. Rather than take the usual 'everyman' approach where a monitor's design is meant to appeal to as broad a consumer base as possible the BenQ RL2460HT has been designed with laser-like intensity towards satisfying the needs of budget-focused PC gamers.

Review: BenQ XL2720T Gaming Monitor

By Chris Heinonen @ AnandTech

To serve the large, and vocal, community of hard core gamers, there are plenty of monitors out there that directly target them. One such display is the BenQ XL2720T, a 120 Hz LCD that’s also used in many sponsored gaming tournaments. Beyond its gaming pedigree, I was interested to see if it also performed well as a general purpose display, or if it really is just designed for a small subset of the market.

Review: Acer T232HL Touchscreen LCD Monitor

Posted by Donster on: 2013-02-07 15:03:15 in category: Monitors / Display [ Print ]

By Chris Heinonen @ AnandTech

Windows 8 has brought about its shift in how we use our computers and its focus on having a more unified experience for phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop PCs. As those first two systems are primarily touch-oriented, desktop computers are suddenly seeing a large number of touch displays appearing. In an environment that is used to a keyboard and mouse for input, how well is touch going to fit into that setting?

The availability of touchscreens has rapidly increased with the launch of Windows 8 last year. Where touchscreens were rare or expensive before, now they are much easier to find with the availability of a mainstream, touch-oriented operating system. The Acer T232HL is one of the first touchscreen displays to hit our review section, so join us as we put it through its paces.

Review: XFX Triple Display Monitor Stand

Posted by Donster on: 2011-05-25 16:10:26 in category: Monitors / Display [ Print ]

The monitor stand was created by man. It evolved.

By David Morgan @ The Tech Report

As something of a multi-monitor aficionado, I jumped at the opportunity to check out a new triple-display monitor stand from XFX. To date, my multi-monitor experiences have consisted of strictly business, home-brewed mounting schemes without much regard for aesthetics. What XFX brings to the table is a professional stand targeted at the Eyefinity panoramic gaming community. The extra screen real estate can certainly be enlisted for more productive uses, but the aggressive angular styling of the base gives a not-so-subtle clue as to the target market.

The data's been largely taken, the display calibrated, but for whatever reason the review has endlessly been on my back burner - I'm sorry ASUS. The upside of this situation, however, is that I've spent a long time using the ASUS MS238 and feel like I know it inside and out, and it's a slim value performer.

Written by Marc Fruchtman @ Benchmark Reviews

In the 2D market, the video monitor is essentially the last piece of hardware in the complex conversion of computer data into visual images. LCD monitors ranging from 22 inch to 26 inch, are now affordable to most consumers. But, many of you are hungry for bigger monitors with better than 1080p (1920x1080) resolution. And these features have generally been out of the acceptable price range. Benchmark Reviews presents the Hanns·G HZ281HPB WideScreen LCD Monitor by Hannspree. It's an affordable 2D monitor with a 27.5 inch viewable screen, and native 1920x1200 resolution. The Samsung SyncMaster PX2370 LED Monitor is definitely small step up from the BX2350 in terms of styling, brightness and contrast. The mystery is that at this given time, they are technically the same price which means there are less people selling the BX2350 and thus, less competition, or Samsung is putting the PX2370 out in higher volumes which will lower the price as well.

By Antony Leather @ Bit-Tech

The VX2739WM continues to expand the sleek-looking, TN panel-based range of monitors that ViewSonic has been churning out for a while. The main selling points are a 1ms response time (the fastest we've ever seen claimed for a TFT) and also a large 27 inch 16:9 viewable screen, although the native resolution is only 1,920 x 1,080, unlike the Dell U2711 which, although it had an aspect ratio of 16:10, managed to cram a fabulous 2,560 x 1,440 panel into it's 27 inch diagonal area.

Review: Acer Vs. Alienware - 2 Brand New 3DHD Monitors

Posted by Donster on: 2010-02-22 15:20:06 in category: Monitors / Display [ Print ]

By James Pikover @ Tom's Hardware

Our experience with 3D gaming is that it works, but that a larger screen is necessary to truly appreciate the addition of depth. While 22” displays are simply too small and the quality hasn’t measured up to that of non-3D capable monitors, Acer and Alienware aim to change that. Acer’s GD235HZ and Alienware’s OptX AW2310 are both 23.6” displays with nearly identical specifications. They retail for $399 and $499, respectively, and as you’ll read, the price plays a huge role in the differences between these two models, although you may be surprised by the results.

By Dave Altavilla @ HotHardware

Like high-end graphics cards setup in multi-GPU configurations, terabyte desktop drives, and 3GHz quad-core processors, 30-inch wide screen LCD displays cater to what we like to call the "enthusiast" niche. And though this niche obviously drives lower volume demand versus the mainstream, you have to remember that the enthusiast end-user is a very influential segment of the market, often times assisting in the definition of what will become mainstream technology tomorrow. Not to mention 30 inches of screen real-estate is a professional workstation designer's nirvana, so perhaps this niche isn't as small as it would appear on the surface.
