The new patch kicks it old school.

In the world of multiplayer shooters, the Battlefield series has managed to hold its own against the likes of UT 2004 and Joint Operations. Unlike JO, it offers vehicles that allow the driver to control a weapon, and snipers don't have as easy of a time. Unlike UT 2004, the maps are much bigger -- huge, in fact, although that's more a matter of taste than quality. Also unlike UT, the damage model is much more realistic. However, it hasn't been all wine and roses for Battlefield 2, which launched with a handful of quirks and missing-in-action features us shooter fans have gotten used to. The latest patch serves to address those issues, and EA granted us some advanced access to the new content, much to our joy.
