Intel has introduced a new LGA775 heatsink with its Core 2 Extreme 45nm "Penryn" core QX9650 processor. The Thermal Design Power on this particular chip is listed as 130W... hot.

The new heatsink is a copper cylinder with thin metal fins radially soldered to it, and a 120mm embedded internally illuminated fan. According to Akiba, a switch on the side of the fan allows the heatsink to be set between two fan speed modes, one powerful and one quiet (limited to 35 dBA). Clearly Intel are catering to the enthusiast market by introducing such a suped-up heatsink for its new 45nm line of multi-core Extreme processors.
