Mozilla has released a security update to its popular Firefox browser and Thunderbird e-mail application. The update fixes a potential vulnerability, discovered by Polish hacker Michal Zalewski, in the cookie storage folder. Hackers could have changed cookies to affect how websites are displayed.

The updated Firefox browser and Thunderbird email program are available on the Mozilla website. Current users should automatically receive an update, but they can manually update to Firefox 2.0.0.2 by clicking "Check for Updates" in the menu bar.

The update also fixes six other vulnerabilities including a critical flaw that causes Firefox to crash from memory errors.
