Shrapnel Games and ProSIM announced this morning that their latest wargame, The Falkands War: 1982, was in final testing and would soon be published. The Falklands War is a simulation of the brief war which pitted Argentina against England for control over the small island chain in the South Atlantic. This new simulation/wargame is being developed by British Army officer Gary Bezant, and promises to offer not only authentic real-time warfare, but also plenty of history to help players to understand the "why's" behind this short-lived war. Built on the ATF engine which was recently seen in Raging Tiger, The Falklands War offers a commander's perspective of the battlefield, complete with historically-accurate maps, appropriate units, and the ability to conduct war using actual strategies and tactics. This hardcore simulation also offers a number of improvements for the ATF engine, including added weather effects and scalable difficulty levels.

The Falkwands War: 1982 will be released sometime this summer, but Shrapnel Games is offering a special deal on pre-ordered copies. Until May 31st, customers who pre-order the game for $39.95 (a $5 discount off the regular price) will also get free shipping. To act on the deal, visit the Gamers' Front.
