1735Z: Steel Panthers: SP Camo Workshop Update
  • The SP Camo Workshop have posted news on their latest update to their World War 2 Mod (SP:WW2). SP:WW2 version 3 allows you to choose from NINE map sizes to a maximum of 100x200 hexes. All other Steel Panthers based games offer three map sizes to a maximum of 100x80 hexes. This change allows you to play a game on a simulated battlefield of up to 50 square Kilometers. SP:WW2 V3 now gives you up to FIFTEEN levels of terrain to work with. All other Steel Panthers based games allow only three elevations above ground level. Click HERE for more details.

1640Z: Beta Testers Needed
  • Blue Byte Software Inc., have announced that it will be conducting extensive online beta testing for the fifth installment in the Battle Isle series, Battle Isle: The Andosia War beginning June 13th 2000.   • Juan Andres "susto" Hermoso from "ALAS ROJAS DEL ESCUADRON 111" had released a toolkit manager for Flanker 2.0 camos, cockpit and terrain. Click HERE for more details.
1540Z: iBeta's RP2.1 for Falcon 4
  • iBeta has posted version RP2.1 of their Falcon 4 Realism Patch. Version 2.1 contains some fixes and small enhancements that improve overall gameplay. Click HERE for the README and HERE to download from their website.
1530Z: Rogue Spear WWII Mod
  • A new World War II mod for Rogue Spear and Rogue Spear:Urban Operations has been made by the Nolife Mercenaries group. The mod basically turns Rogue Spear into a World War II environment. Click HERE for more info.

1542Z: Shrapnel Announces Combat Command 2
  • Shrapnel Games today they are developing a new game called Combat Command 2: Danger Forward (CC2). CC2 recreates the most various engagements of WWII. Emphasizing command control and combined arms, the first volume of the series, Danger Forward, focuses on the Mediterranean and Western Front, from 1940-1945. Click HERE for more details.

1405Z: FlightGear Updated
  • Thanks to some top notch detective work, the bug in the prebuilt FlightGear-0.7.3 windows executable that was causing crashes on many people's systems has been tracked down. The new file to download is located in the "Win32" subdirectory and is called "fgfs-win32-bin-0.7.3a.exe". Install on top of your existing installation. Click HERE to download.

1637Z: Novalogic Cancels Titles
  • We have confirmation that Novalogic have taken Maximum Overkill, JSF and Wolfpack 2 off the production schedule. Novalogic has told us however that Comanche 4 is currenly back at the drawing board and that they are determined to release this product in the future. No release date has been set for Comanche 4.
1620Z: 3dfx Delays Shipment of Voodoo5
  • 3dfx has announced they have delayed shipment of their Voodoo5 5500 AGP video card. They discovered that the Voodoo5 may be experiencing field failure rates and are conducting tests to determine whether a problem actually exists. 3dfx anticipates this action will delay product availability between seven and 14 days.
1600Z: Gunship! Mod Adds 20 Objects
  • Pretzelworks has posted instructions on their web site on how to add 20 new objects to Gunship!. Click HERE for more details.
1550Z: Sherman Mod for Halflife
  • A new mod for Halflife is in the works called "The Sherman Project". It is using the halflife engine to create a "realistic" simulation of Close Quaters Battle on a variety of sides to include Swat teams and Delta Force types of engagements.   • UK $7.7b purchase plan creates political balance

    The UK government has announced the selection of the European-built Meteor Beyond-Visual-Range Air-to-Air Missile for UK Royal Air Force Eurofighter multirole combat aircraft and a mix of Boeing C-17 and Airbus Military Company A400M transport aircraft under a £5 billion ($7.7 billion) procurement package.



  • Belgium details 15-year plan for reorganisation

    The Belgian cabinet has approved a sweeping reorganisation of its armed forces intended to enhance Belgium's ability to project forces capable of operating across the full spectrum of military operations in concert with NATO and EU allies.

  • White paper released on USAF future

    A new US Air Force (USAF) white paper outlining the service's vision of itself in the future as an aerospace force has painted a picture of manned and unmanned aircraft as well as satellites operating together to "engage any object of military significance on or above the surface of the Earth in near real time".

  • EH 101 completes first US tour

    The joint Anglo-Italian EH Industries EH 101 medium-lift, multirole helicopter completes its first tour in the USA this week after nearly a month of efforts to convince American defence and industry officials that the European rotorcraft can meet several outstanding US military requirements.

  • Bofors working on unique air-defence system

    Sweden's Bofors Weapon Systems has revealed that for some years it has been studying a new modular air-defence concept under contract to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration.

  • UK looks at options on nuclear waste storage

    The UK government last week announced proposals for the land-based storage of intermediate and low-level radioactive waste from decommissioned Royal Navy nuclear-powered submarines.

  • Indian delays Army MBTs

    The Indian Army's planned purchase of around 300 Russian T-90S main battle tanks (MBTs) has suffered a setback after the all-party Standing Committee on Defence questioned the lack of transparency in the deal worth over Rs 50 billion ($1.1 billion).

  • USA warms to new military ties with Indonesia

    Authorities in the USA have reached an internal consensus on the resumption of military ties with Indonesia, sources in Washington have said.

  • Another ATGW for Iran

    The Aerospace Industries Organisation of Iran has revealed it is manufacturing a long-range anti-tank guided weapon (ATGW) called Toophan. It looks similar to the US Raytheon Systems Company Tube-launched Optically-tracked Wire-guided ATGW that entered service with Iran over 25 years ago.

  • Boeing develops plan for frontline part manufacture

    The Boeing Company's advanced concepts division, the Phantom Works, is moving forward with a revolutionary logistics scheme that could soon see military aircraft spare parts being 'built to print' at forward airbases using design data from original manufacturers.

  • The Warship Database Project Version 7 has been posted. This latest update includes dual purpose gun mounts with updated ranges and accuracy ratings.
