Last year we allowed our regular contributors to vote on simulation of the year, best first person shooter, etcetera. This year we'll be letting our readers decide. You may vote in categories based on your characterization of your interests: ie. if you consider yourself hard core or a more casual gamer you will have your own list to choose from in jet and prop sims.

Awards will be chosen for: (must have released in 1999)

• best jet sim
• best prop sim
• best shooter
• best strategy
• best mech

This year we will also be awarding our writers! We want to recognize hard work and creativity, and offer awards to the writer of the best hardware article, best game review and best tactical/tips article.

The winner for each category will receive a flight calendar or similar prize. As Senior Editor I will not vote. We may also follow up by letting our writers vote to choose the best simulation review of the year in two categories: combat flight sim and OTHER.

UPDATE December 10, 1999: We should have said this when we originally posted this announcement, but we will create an interactive survey for you to vote for your favourite articles and writers. This survey should be ready in the next few days so keep your eyes peeled for it on our main page.
