New Screens: IL2: Forgotten Battles
We have 9 new screenshots from IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles. The Forgotten Battles will include two new maps for Finland and Hungary, expanding the battlefield for both single and multiplayer modes. It will also feature more than 20 new single player missions and ten cooperative multiplayer missions. IL2-Sturmovik: The Forgotten Battles is expected to ship to retail stores worldwide in Fall 2002. The latest new screenshots show:

Operation Flashpoint: Resistance Hits Friday
Codemaster's has announced that Operation Flashpoint: Resistance is launching this Friday 28th June 2002. Expanding the Flashpoint universe, Resistance creates an additional 100km2 island complete with industrial-style buildings and original landscape scenery.

Requiring the original game to play, Resistance immerses players in a new campaign, with intriguingly different play style, that forms a prequel to the original game’s plot and is set years before Operation Flashpoint’s Cold War hit crisis point. Mustang Vs Fw 190 Add-on Released
Just Flight has released, Mustang Vs Fw 190, their latest add-on for Combat Flight Simulator 2 and Flight Simulator 2002. Features include sliding canopies, rolling wheels, moving suspension and even working drop tanks!. There are new paint schemes available to download or you can use Flight One’s Text-O-Matic to create your own. Also included is two custom scenery areas of original airfields, Bodney and Abbeville. X-Plane Demo/Upgrade V6.20
There is a new version 6.20 of X-Plane, the comprehensive flight simulation by Laminar Research. This release adds more flight model improvements, a variety of new features, some gameplay refinements, and a couple of bug fixes. As usual you can use a patch from the previous v6.16, or a full upgrade from any older version (which also serves as a time-limited demo).Download

Boeing Delivers Newest F-15E to U.S. Air Force




Boeing has delivered the first of 10 new F-15E Strike Eagles it's currently producing for the U.S. Air Force. The aircraft is the 227th Strike Eagle built at the company's St. Louis facility. The Republic of Korea in April selected the F-15K, a derivative of the F-15E, as its next-generation fighter.

Raytheon Receives U.S. Navy Award for F/A-18 Radar Warning Receivers
Raytheon Company has been awarded a contract option of $33 million for production of its ALR-67(V)3 radar warning receiver system for the U.S. Navy's F/A-18E/F aircraft. The Lot 4 production award represents the second option to the full rate production Lot 2 contract, which began in July 2000. Low rate initial production of the system began in June 1998, followed by full rate production (Lot 1) in August 1999. The current award was received from the U.S. Navy's Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Md., and calls for the delivery of 28 radar warning receivers. Deliveries of the system under the Lot 4 contract will begin in June 2004 and are expected to be complete by January 2005.

The system, designated the AN/ALR-67(V)3, provides advanced techniques to detect threat radar emitters, thereby enhancing the survivability of aircraft equipped with the system. A total of 170 radar warning receivers have now been ordered under the overall production program.

This fourth generation system has been selected as the standard radar warning receiver on the U.S. Navy F/A-18E/F front-line, carrier-based tactical aircraft. The system is designed to enhance the survivability of aircrews by providing improved situational awareness in today's complex electronic warfare environments. This includes emitter identification, extended capabilities in detection and processing, threat location and potential lethality. Raytheon has compressed the channelized radar warning receiver into an extraordinarily lightweight 100-pound system that is designed to meet the Navy's electronic warfare requirements well into the 21st Century.

Sixth Successful Ballistic Target Vehicle Launch
Orbital Sciences Corporation announced today that it successfully launched the suborbital rocket that served as the target vehicle for a test of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Sea-Based Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense system. The launch of Orbital's Target Test Vehicle (TTV) originated from the island of Kauai, Hawaii on Thursday, June 13. Orbital's role in the test, which was led by the company's Launch Systems Group in Chandler, AZ, was to supply the TTV and conduct the launch operations as contracted by the U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (AF/SMC).



Orbital is one of the country's leading suppliers of ballistic target vehicles and interceptor boosters for missile defense applications. The company's target vehicles are used to support numerous Department of Defense programs, including both the Ground-Based Midcourse and Sea-Based Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense systems, as well as other AF/SMC programs. Orbital's target vehicles are also used to support the U.S. Army's THAAD, PAC- 3, CMP and SRALT programs. In addition to target vehicles, Orbital is now executing a contract it received earlier this year from The Boeing Company to design, develop, manufacture and test new interceptor boost vehicles for the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense segment of the U.S. missile defense effort.

USS Shoup Commissioned For U.S. Pacific Fleet Duty
Military and Congressional leaders called on the nation to purchase more technologically advanced ships like the USS Shoup (DDG 86), because, in the words of the commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, "This ship is the 21st century answer to the global cancer of terrorism."



USS Shoup, the newest in a series of advanced Aegis guided missile destroyers built for the U.S. Navy by Northrop Grumman Corporation's Ship Systems sector in Pascagoula, Miss., was commissioned before more than 5,000 guests in attendance at Port Terminal 37 in Seattle.

The ship is named in honor of U.S. Marine Corps Gen. David M. Shoup (1904-1983), a naval hero of World War II, a Medal of Honor recipient for his actions during the initial landings on Betio, Tarawa Atoll, in the Pacific in 1943, and who later became the 22nd commandant of the Marine Corps.
