The majority of functions within the game are all in place, but please bear in mind that all the information contained in this article, including the screen shots have been taken from the Alpha\Beta release of the game. As mentioned previously in articles on the COMBATSIM.COM site this is a "preview" of the game and as such things could be added or changed as the game nears completion. I, like most of the flight simulator community eagerly await these early previews of up and coming sims in order to get a "feel" for the game and how it is coming along. Indeed, it's a privilege to be sitting on the testing side of the fence for a product as opposed to waiting out there for snippets of information on the next upcoming simulator etc. I am sure I have given myself ulcers of the years waiting for games to appear ;-)

Its nice therefore, to be able to write this article and give you some idea of what Comanche V Hokum is about and what to expect, from a company that has already delivered the goods in its previous release Apache V Havoc. Which, bye the way, is now available in the UK on Budget for those of you who haven't already got it.

Graphics

The graphics have been specifically designed for low level helicopter combat and look really gorgeous in this simulator, from rolling terrain and valleys, to the onset of day/night, weather effects like rain and storm build-ups to the modeling of the flyable aircraft, plus the sixty odd highly detailed and articulated 3D models.

One of my favorite views is of the Comanche, after you select the weapons, the gun comes out from under its "fairing" and the sides of the Comanche open up revealing the weapon hard-points. Another favorite however, is the "ejection" sequence that only takes place from within the Hokum. Yes, you heard right, you can actually eject from a helicopter and this simulation models it!

Unlike other simulators, Razorworks have taken the time to model all the vehicles up to a high standard and this shows in the end product, especially when you are looking at vehicles from one of the many viewing options within the game. (Ever thought of doing a Tank Simulator guys?) .
