Those of you getting black textures, try this:
goto Martin Wright's wonderful site and download DXTBmp and any other appropriate dll files you may need. http://fly.to/mwgfx/
Run DXTBmp.
click on Load embedded 16 bit image
(find the bmp file you want to fix in your texture folder)
When the texture file is loaded, goto Prefs
click on include Mips ( a checkmark will be there after that)
click on Save DXT file
you will then be taken back to the texture folder where the file was loaded from. you can then click on the name of the file you're changing and the new texture bmp will be saved.

That's about all there is to it. If skinners save their files like above (with Mips) then there shouldn't be any more problems with black textures. (don't quote me on that )

Sorry about the Confusion this "Mips" thing has caused.
When originally decoding the DXT format I was keeping thigs as simple as possible until it all worked. Once working I added the "Mips" as an option (but defaulting to off).
What I didn`t realise was that CFS2 would still try to use Mips even if they weren`t there in the file if you have your texture settings lower than 1024......black textures!

If you have texture settings at max then it works as expected - the Main image is used at all distances. Not everyone runs at Max though so Mips are recommended for all DXT textures
