PLease give me your real opinion on how good this game is. I had European Air War but thought it wasn't incredible. I'm looking for a good WW2 Flight Sim. Thank you very much. First post

Name a WWII flight sim that you consider incredible so that we may have a point of referrence.

Sorry, still looking for decent WW2 sim. I'm interested to hear opinions though. I really like Janes f-18 (who didn't, eh. I thought that was the best one out there of its time.

Thanx

I asked the same thing, but from a slightly different angle in post 000905. My question was to compare Mig Alley to CFS2. The answer was almost as expected. CFS2 has better graphics, but MA, most agreed, has a slightly better FM.

Game wise? It appears that is very subjective depending on the kind of theater and campaign structure you like. Also MA's multiplay is close to broken.

It's amazing, incredible, a must purchase. I feel sorry for the people that are so jaded that they can't enjoy this sim or EAW for that matter. EAW not decent?
Anyway, for just about anyone interested in WWII aviation, and the Pacific theatre in particular, this sim hits the mark in my opinion.

Thanks guys!

"EAW not decent" maybe I should re-word that...It was on a awfully slow computer...my fault.

That's it! I'm getting the game for sure. I've been in Flight Sims for 15 years and always appreciate some pros views on these games.

This is my opinion, been flying every box sim since 1984---

-FM is too 'mushy'
-Running a PIII-550,128meg ram, 32meg TNT2 card, and at medium graphics settings I'm getting lousy Frame Rate.
-Cockpit takes the biggest FR hit when its on (no surprise here)
-EAW was much better IMO (and I'm a MS shareholder!)
-Need a dual-966 to run this game at full resolution.(tongue in cheek)
-AI is so-soo, but then again, I've been playing some very cunning human opponents with other online games, so I guess a dumb AI is to be expected.

C'mon Ripsnot don't mislead Faden. The game requires a GeForce card, a Pentium III 733 and above with 128MB of Ram to run it at Max setup and your framerates will vary from 25 to 65 depending which view you have.

TNT 16MB 7200 hard drive

Should work, shouldn't it?

Fajen, sure it will work, but you will not be able to have full graphics (eye candy) up all the way.

BTW, anyone know what a good GeForce is going for nowadays, and is it better than a TNT2 32 meg card(current card)

Check www.pricewatch.com there are different Types SDR, DDR, Geforce, Geforce2, Geforce2 Pro and Geforce2 Ultra, 32 or 64MB on the geforce2 flavors. Now any Geforce is a better card than a TNT 2.
I have seen CFS 2 in a SDR PIII733, DDR PIII600 and DDR 64 2 PIII866 in 1024x768 with all maxed out. Least framereate 22-67 on the PIII600. The 22 was inside 2dcockpit.

Excellent sim.....I run PII 333, TNT2 ultra, 256 megs. Medium graphics gives excellent frame rates. The sim has great potential also for expansion. Mission builder is a great feature. The best, IMHO, is EAW...thanks to great 3RD party add-ons. CFS2 is way ahead of CFS1.
Looks like, if you have the computing power, that Il2 will be the next sim to have. Perhaps it may be the best ever...but now EAW.

PIII700(at 866), Voodoo3500, 256K ram, all graphics maxed, 1024X768: Beautiful frame rate at all times except chokes on the Pearl Harbor missions with all the ships, buildings, and many planes in the air.

Two words for this sim: Eye candy!!!!
