I dunno if he is, but it DID sound like it. Guess the transparecny isnt thier for the players' aircraft, but what do external aircraft see? Red answered one of my questions, but yeah, $24.95 isn't a good price for better clouds in CFS2.

Hey, Wolfar...

Redbaronace posted about FS Clouds only three times and two of those times were in response to questions people had about them.
Instead of berating users and small developers, why don't you guys direct a little anger at Microsoft for not improving the look of the clouds. Don't forget, the makers of FS Clouds 2k probably had to pay Microsoft just so they could get their product out there. I sincerely doubt they're getting rich off this. Furthermore, the clouds do look significantly better.... no more pink and blue dots up close.

To answer your questions,

NO. I am in no way connected to Flight 1 Software. I just think FSclouds is a great improvement at a good price on what CFS2 should have done in the first place. Guess I shouldn't have wasted my time posting trying to help people.
Some of you people are real jerks on this forum. Guess I'm just used to the more friendly atmosphere over at the Avsim forum. I'm not wasting any more time in this forum.

Joe

On that note.. I was wondering if the cloud files are editable, if they were BMP files (because they appear to be sprites when viewed from below). If so, then we can always edit them

I don't have a viewer that can modify the CFS 2 BMP's though

Well, this is a COMBAT flight sim forum. Agression, and al that. I was trying to be civil in voicing my concerns, but Joe, I refuse to tip-toe around every fragile ego in a public forum.
On the next note (much more pleasant).
I wonder if just editing the .bmps would be enough, after all FS2000 does make some modifications to the main .exe file, so the way the .bmps are displayed, or "arranged" in the game may have to be tweaked too. Hmmm. Cool deal Von_m, thanks.

HEY! I found them, cleverly hidden in the Textures folder with the devious name of cumulonimbus_scattered_above.bmp
or different depending on the cloud name and type. Once an editor can open these files, we'll have purty clouds without the $24.99 price tag!

You heard me right, the same quality of FSClouds (retail $24.95) except for free!

EDIT: I posted before you did, so I didn't know it did something to the EXE.. dang it.

Von_M,
Editing these clouds to look good maybe one thing, making them not to affect framerates might be another. The Fsclouds to give them credit, even the more elaborate ones seem to affect my system approximately 5 frames/sec and I am not sure if it is even that much. I will do more tests and get more accurate results.

I do LOVE this sim so far! Even if the clouds are not that grand. I spent the whole eve shooting down planes and almost everyone was destroyed in a difernt way. I think M$ did a pretty good job with this sim.

speaking of clouds--
I just happened to have been watching "The Princess Bride" a few moments ago and noticed that the clouds in the background of the *famous* duel at the top of the 'Cliffs of Insanity' look just like the clouds in CFS2. I wonder if Gates had anything to do with the production of the movie?!? (By the way that is a joke, please don't take offense anyone)

Can anyone else confirm?
