I checked out the Betty...

It was very unstable in pitch and 50 mph too fast at 15000'. Instead of 270 mph TAS, it was doing 270 mph IAS. I fixed the speed problem and the stability problem. The roll rate was a tad fast for a plane with an 80' wingspan, so I reduced that a wee bit (3 seconds to 90 degrees at 200 mph). Due to those changes, it shouldn't be pulling more than 2.5G in a turn now...at least that's the most I got out of it! Right click on the file below and save...

Tried the Betty last night with the original flight model. Whoa, did that thing ever have _way_ too much lift! On a take off roll with two notches of flaps, she practically leapt into the air, pitched up to about 45 degrees in the blink of an eye and then stalled out after climbing to several thousand feet. Tried it again without flaps. Same story. The only way I could keep her in the air was to have almost full forward pressure on the stick at all times to keep her nose down, otherwise she's nose up and stall out. Could trim around it, but the performance seemed indicative of a problem.

S.

P.S. By the way, I haven't tried Wells' new flight model yet to compare.

Excuse the dumb question, but Is this a flight model fix for the AI Betty or a flyable Betty?

It is flyable. Hopefully it will fix how the AI flies it as well! If the AI could fly the default model no problem, then it can fly anything!

Thanks Wells,

I also went into the .cfg file for the Betty and cut the Aileron/Rudder/Elevator effectiveness down to .5 and now the AI seems to fly these things like bombers.
