This is really scarry! Never thought WWII dogfight was that tough. Never really flown any prop sim, the closest was EAW when it came out and returned it about 2 days later since I alway would go in a tail spin or burn out my engine. I am a more jet sim pilot (EF2000, F22, JF-15, Falcon4, JFA-18, Flanker2) and sometimes helo (LB, LB2 and EECH) so speed and electronics was my cradle. Then I started to read over pre-views of MS:CFS2 and it catched my attention since it was in the pacific, it reminded me of that old TV show 'Black Sheep' or the movie 'Tora! Tora! Tora!' so I was hooked. Got my copy today from EB and man! Had to get used to the 'awkward' slower speed and mechanical control of the planel...I also had to worry about new things like engine overheating and prop RPM, no ejection seat, no radar, no AWACS, no after burner or auto-rotation..just plain TRUE DOGFIGHT to scare anyone and make him/her do poo in the pants! I could hear bailed out pilot screaming to their deaths because their chutes did not open or see them burn to death while going to down for the big splash! Man...and this really happened over 50 years ago with real human beings. Thank you for those who gave their lives for the freedom of all human kind, hope nothing like this happens again, may we learn from this sim and history. Good product Microsoft. Thanks.

"america the free? who ever told you that is your enemy!"

Yes,well stated ecoli,
As we enjoy putting these planes thru mock combat,we sometimes forget the sacrifice that was laid down by so many. War sucks theres no doubt. And I pray my sons will never need to make the same ultimate sacrifice for thier freedom.
That being said,It is indeed a blast for me to put these planes thru thier paces and try to imagine what the actual experience must have been like.Damned scary I'm sure!
Salute to the brave of all nations that have gone before the gun.May it never need repeating.
I sure do enjoy the simulation of airial combat though ,

Scary it is. Because it don't look like computer graphics and at times feels like you are in a time warp fighting the Pacific war all over again. Like watching a movie or something with the graphics and how real it all comes together.

Once my F6F was hit by flak and caught fire in the front on the engine and flames were coming in the cockpit! From being in cockpit view I can see them too and this was the 2D cockpit. I was too scared to go to the 3D cockpit view and see that I looked outside of it and the whole front of my plane was engulfed in flames!!!
