A "Windows for Dummies" question, perhaps, but I'm just wondering if and how I can get the EAW Control Panel app to run automatically in the Task Bar. I used to have CTFJ! also running automatically, but have since forgotten how to do it. Early senility!? Yowch!!!

If you have EAWStab version 1.1, you can accomplish that very easily. Get it if you don't and see the read me instructions. If you have it, then check those out.

Mane-raptor,

I DO have Stab and STILL don't get how to put things in the Task Bar. As I said, it's a Windows for Dummies problem, with yours truly being said dummy.

If you read the instructions, I know boring!!! (Manual, we don't need no stinking manual)

From the read me for EAWStab 1.1:

ADDING ADDITIONAL EXTERNAL PROGRAMS
===================================

To add additional external program support to EAW Stab's configuration, do the following steps (for the purposes of
illustration we will add 'EAW Pilot' from Charles Gunst, which should live in the 'savedata' folder under the
EAW folder):

1. Using Notepad, open the file EAWSTAB.INI in the 'AddOns' folder.

2. Locate the section '[External]'.

3. Find a key value not used (i.e. 'App3Desc=' ).

4. Enter a description for the application (i.e. 'App3Desc=Charles Gunst's EAW Pilot Editor' ).

5. Enter the path and excutable to run on the next line (i.e. 'App3EXE=..\savedata\EAWPILOT.EXE')

6. Save the file and exit Notepad.

7. Run EAW Stab.

Note 1: The path specified in step 5 is relative to the 'AddOns' folder. The '..' means go up one folder (i.e. the main EAW folder) and then into the 'savedata' folder and the executable is EAWPILOT.EXE. To run an application in the 'AddOns' folder, such as EAW Stab for example, the entry would just look like 'App3EXE=EAWSTAB.EXE'.

Note 2: You cannot run an application above the main EAW folder only below it.

Note 3: Up to five external programs can be configured in this way.
