I'm extremely happy with the Russian skin package, but the Yak-9D (Spit IX) is still in RAF colors. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks and see you over the steppe.

The Yak 9 is an integral part of the Russian skin pack, as you would expect. I was sure that the yak 9 files were in the zip file when I posted it, but they seem to have gone missing (!??!). An amended zip file will be posted immediately, with the Yak 9 included. For reference, the full zip file ECAP2RUS.ZIP shoould be 400 Kb in size, and contain 59 smaller files.

Thanks Charles, I counted only 53 files in my version of the readme, but then 53 is pretty high for me to count.

Ya I noted this too, I found that using Paulo's MSkinmod thingie worked fine tho so I used it instead.

But then started up ECA Panel and screwed up lots of stuff...had to stuff around a fair bit to get the 3D models back correctly Seems it'll have to be one mod or the other. I did like how Paulo's mod allowed for multiple 190A types and added the 109F too while leaving in the G and E by swapping plane natoinallities...Wonder if it'll do weird things to a campaign however, am yet to try it.

Anyway now that the 3d models can be swapped around we can really get some good action....

P47C's and 109's dressed up in RA clothes to give us Macchi's for North Afrika....190's as Ki84's....P51B's as P40's and P39's perhaps.

I was also wondering Charles if you were thinking of doing some French flight models for a battle of France?

Anyway thanks for your work and I'll d/l you're updated Ost Front pack when it's available.

Thanks
Fen

Hey Charles, Not to sound impatient or anything, but when you add that Yak9D, where is the best place to get it (first) Airbuddha's? Thanks. See you over the steppe.

The new Russian Skin Pack for ECA 2.0 is ready for download. You can get it in the files section, or go to the ECA 2.0 area of the Skins section and get it there too. Scroll down to the Russian section. I posted a couple of pictures of the Yak-9D, and the Mig-3

The Russian Skin Pack is great! I really like the P-51B as the LaGG-3 and especially the FW190 as the Lavochkins (La-5 and 7). It looks a lot more like the real thing than a Typhoon or Tempest! But the only thing I don't like is the Hurricane for the Yak-3. I really preferred the Spitfire MkXIV as Yak-3. Is there any way to get the game to go back to using the Spit XIV for the Yak-3? Can it be done by simply deleting certain files in the EAW Folder? If so, which ones?

It could be me but I downloaded the Russian skin pack (this one was 400k, 59 files) and still no Yak9D. It's a Spit in RAF dress. Is this happining to anyone else? I changed all the British aircraft to Russian models, when on the single mission screen the Spit IX highlights as a Yak-9D, but in the game she's wearing British clothes. Looking for a solution to this problem. See you over the steppe.

Reese,

I'll check that out. It showed up as a Yak-9D to me. Did you select "Yak-9D" from ECA 2.0 Control Panel?... Doh! Never mind. I see that you did.

Reese,

Here's what I got when I installed the newest Russian Skin Pack. It worked even when I reset my aircraft and didn't choose it in ECA 2.0 Control Panel.

Yes, I did select the Yak from the control panel. When I pass the cursor over the pic of the Spit IX it displays Yak-9D; however, when the game starts it's a Spit (paint). The correct Yak weapons are in place too. Strange!

What? The Yak-9 is supposed to use a Hurricane skin?

Zip File Size: The zip I downloaded was 372Kb in zipped form, and unzipped to 445Kb in 52 files. I have only one .tpc file for the Spitfire MkIX, and that is Psp09v.tpc. My Yak-9 shows up as a Spit 9.

Reese: if you need a Russian Spitfire skin before this problem is solved, go to the LLv34 website. They have a downloadable file for just about every Allied plane (wearing Russian colors), including the Spitfire MkIX. That's what I'm using. Before I installed my Russian Skin Pack, I was using the LLv34 skins for the British/Russian airplanes. When I copied the Skin Pack into my EAW folder, the Russian Spitfire MkIX art files did not get overwritten, and my Yak-9 looks like a Spitfire MkIX in RUSSIAN markings. I wouldn't have noticed anything wrong if you hadn't posted about this problem!

P.S. If you download it, and don't have the gunsight already, get the excellent LLv34 Revi BK gunsight available at the bottom of the same webpage (but replace the sight before flying as an Allied pilot!). It makes flying a German plane seem even more realistic (and since I've been wasting a good part of what little time I have right now goofing off tinkering with B-17 gunner dispersion instead of playing your campaign like I'm supposed to[!]) I can attest that it makes it a lot easier to line up heavy bombers for an attack run.

Well JWC, I finally found an answer to my problem with the Yak-9D. I couldn't get the LLv skin to go into the directory so I deleted every Spit IX skin I could find, then it worked. Some of the skins must have had the same file name or something. I also deleted some Hurricane files from the Skin Pack, but I may have tossed to many, now my propeller looks like several 1x6s. Probably should have kept the Phurrtra file in place. I do however have the nice two-tone grey Hurricane as a Mig-3. I just have to fly without the cockpit showing. I'm usually just shooting at them anyway, not flying them. In a rare flash of insight I kept the deleted files in another folder, so I'll try to work that out tomorrow unless some kind soul would like to tell me which file to put back in. And shame on you, tinkering with bomber's guns while your comrades are out there over the steppe risking their lives. Happy New Year.
