Here in the UK I can only seem to find supersocket 7 boards for my AT case, so I'm stuck with having to use an AMD cpu. Are any of you guys getting decent frame rates with AMD on EAW: or, any other suggestions?

Ginger - There's nothing wrong with AMDs. I've only got a 350 and it's running fine.

Nashwan is correct. I had a 350 K6-2 and EAW ran fine, unless I got in badly damaged bomber stream, e.g. lots 'o smokin' '17s. I now have a K6-III 450 and don't have any problems. If you must upgrade, please get an Athlon 500, in the states we can get an Athlon 500 + an FIC SD11 Mobo for $360.00. Please support continued competition in the CPU marketplace and buy AMD (If through some miracle AMD and Intel switch places, I'll advocate buying Intel CPUs, I just want the smaller guy to stick around and contine to give some competition).

Sisu.

I have an AMD K6-2 450 on an ASUS MB. 64 mb PC-100 RAM and a Banshee card. EAW runs like a champ with every single option I could find turned up to the max. Love the game. I don't know the frame rate (is there a way to see it?) but it runs oh so smooth. Even in a smoking B-17 formation! I've only used AMD CPU's for about 6 years now, and have no regrets. The price can't be beaten! Look on pricewatch.com and you'll see what I mean. A 400 MHz K6-2 goes for about 40 dollars these days.

Thanks awfully chaps, I'm most encouraged by you AMD jockeys, particularly as frantic searching has revealed only one slot one m/board - Getin p62b - available in blighty, damn those U-boats! By the way, has anyone destroyed a u-boat pen yet?

Ginger , I have an AMD 400K6/2 it req PC100 RAM for a ASUS P5AB mobo . I have 128 sdram

It runs EAW NO PROBLEM not matter HOW MANY PLANES IN AIR or how intense graphics .

It also will run ANY of the good Flight sims out there.
MS COMBAT FLIGHT SIM , Janes WWII fighters ,etc.

frames on MS CFS is 40 -50 SAME FOR jANES EAW doesnt come with one but you can get an addon check previous posts. I never did because it runs silky smooth on my setup so I wasnt curious

S! Fellow UK Fleiger

I have just purchased an Athlon 500 system from the following people www.scan.co.uk and after a few teething problems it is running beautifully. They also sell processors and motherboards seperately. Hope this helps.

Morning chaps, U-boat pens can be found along the Norwegian coast and the French Atlantic coast, usually by accident on the way home. Will try to pinpoint one.
good hunting.

Here is a photo I found at EAWONLINE. Proof of U-Boat pens in EAW.

I can't understand the problems you are having getting slot 1 motherboards. My local hardware dealers (Swansea) have got stacks of the things. Several different makes etc.
