I've got EAW on order (T minus 3days to delivery!). Im starting to get the buzz for the game just by reading this forum!. Is the 262 (one of my favorites) flyable in the game and how does it rate?
Can anyone tell me if I can get better than 640x480 with a Voodoo3?. Any help gratefully received.

Welcome to the EAW world! You will spend many sleepless nights, and miss many meals, phone calls, be late for work, etc.... You can change the resolution in EAW by going into the EAW.ini file. There are two lines in the "graphics" section, horizontal and vertical. Set them to the desired resolution, save the changes, and start EAW. You will lose the "hard" cockpit, and only be able to use the "virtual"cockpit. Check out www.kvi.net/~majorlee for more informtion on the EAW.ini file, in the Air Combat Training Section. Good Luck. Oh yes, the Me262 is a flyable aircraft. It's four 30mm cannons pack quite a wallop. Make sure to get the EAW 1.2 patch from Microprose. Also, get one of Migge's skins for the 262. They are fantastic.

Well Hun Hunter, congrats on getting EAW

Yes, you can fly the 262, and it's a nice plane to B&Z, but don't try to T&B with it!

As for the resolution, with a voodoo3, you should be able to crank it up to 1024x768 in glide.(not sure if you can go any higher using D3D w\V3)

Once you install the sim. make sure you download the latest patch. Read the readme file that comes with the patch, and it will give you detailed info on changing res.

And then inform your family & friends that you'll be busy for the next several months, because it's very addicting.

Oh!, and you gotta try on-line flying! Either on Kali, or the zone.

Good Luck & Good Hunting!

Hun Hunter...Welcome to the EAW community! Its good to see someone who flies for the allies!!! he,he Just to add to the above, I'm not sure if it was said clearly but you have to have the latest patch to change screen resolutions. Don't forget Charles Gunst ECA and ECA Panel add-ons. That gives you 90 planes total to fly! (Includes several variants of the "stock" planes) Enjoy!!

Another advantage to Charles Gunst's Enemy Coast Ahead is that the 1.2 version changes the gun rates of fire and the ballistics. EAW has the muzzle velocities of most of the cannon and machine guns considerably lower than the "real thing", so you have exagerrated 'bullet drop'. This makes it harder to shoot accurately at longer ranges and requires more lead to hit a maneuvering target. Also the rates of fire are incorrect in the game, with the errors falling on both sides i.e., some are too high, some are too low. This leads to not having enough rounds on target for some guns and running out of ammo too soon for others. Microprose seems to have done this in order to make gameplay more challenging, although it can get somewhat frustrating. ECA 1.2 changes the gun modelling to reflect reality. It also makes things MORE difficult with some aircraft (realistically, though). Planes with guns that have widely divergent muzzle velocities (such as the Me109E--high velocity MG17 machine guns and low velocity MG FF cannon) make it hard to hit targets with all your guns at long or medium range due to different amounts of 'bullet drop'. Overall, ECA 1.2's changes to the gun modelling provides a more satisfying feel (to me, at least), since I know the modelling reflects reality, not the manufacturer's whims.

P.S. Despite my comments about gun modelling, I still applaud Microprose for EAW! Still the BEST prop sim out there!!!!
