How well should Janes F18, F2, and F4 run at max detail on my rig? I have a Packard Bell P150 overclocked to 166. But I don't know if I should run it this hot though b/c sometimes its not stable. I keep my case open and blow a fan directly on it so it will stay cool. I don't want my CPU to fry and then have to buy a new setup. Maybe I should change the multiplier.

I also have 32MB ram. Voodoo1 card. .28 dot pitch 15 inch monitor.

Anyway, I look for at least 25 fps in my sims kiddies. Any advice on which one will run the best?

Thanks in advance,

hotboy

Did you say 25 FPS or 2.5 FPS?

LOL
Why settle for 25 fps? Just change the multiplier and you'll be flying along at 60 fps happily! But then, on a .28 dot pitch monitor, you can't get more than 28 fps anyway ...

Seriously guys,

Actually in F4, at Lo detail(yes, there is texture and it looks pretty good!)I get 15-20fps in TE in F4. In campaign I'm running about .01 to 2 fps over the FLOT. Thats when flip on my top secret red switch on the side of my computer case. Its a new propietary technology that gives a real good turboboost. Thats when my fps skyrocket to 4 fps, easily. I can't run on turbo mode for my than 15 seconds though. What should I get next to update my system: VoodooII or Game Commander?

Seriously, hotboy, a Packard Hell 150's not going to cut it for much longer and F-18 will probably look like a slide show. Most research and advice reccommends 96 mb of RAM as the real minimum to run Win 98 and 64 is really minimal for Win 95 to run efficiently. Check Best-Buy or Comp screw-SA for an open-box deal on a Cleleron 400 with at least 64 mb ram. I've seen them for as little as 300 bucks. A voodoo 3 2000 can be had for as low as $79. That's not much for a new system...

Take your Packard Bell and see how fast it can go from 0 to 60 out a 10th story window.

Ok.

I do have a P150. Yes it is overclocked and hot running at 166. I have all the things mentioned except the top secrect turboboost switch.

Ef2k and hornet korea and LB2 run as smooth as glass. More to the point. The only thing compelling to come along in a while is F4 and F2 so now is the time to make my move. Anyway, F4 TE runs well and at good detail for me. In campaign I get 11 fps in 2d and 4 fps over flot.

I was suprised at how crappy F2 runs with its lo detail graphics. Even F1.5 looks better. I don't know what is going on there. Maybe its just coded for high end. But for there to be no dynamic campaign I am suprised. Bottom line is I have texture and everthing on F4 on TE and I am getting 15-25 fps in 2d.

Lastly, I'm holding out for a bargain basement P750 or 1Ghz. Then I will blow all you suckers away. All of you who laughed at my inadequacy.

***Until then, does anyone know why F4 training missions runs so much better(15-25) than F2(2-4 fps)_and F4 has textured graphics and the horizon distance is as good as if18? It is puzzling.***
