I discovered this trick the other day. Apologies if you know it already:

To go where the best gunnery action is - man a gun on a fort, make sure 'auto fire' is off (ie, press M to bring up the hand symbol), then press the secondary button on your joystick whenever their are bandits around. This will take you directly to whichever gun is nearest the bandits, and you wont have to hunt around for them.
If nothing happens when you click the secondary button, it either means that that IS where the action is, or else it means that there are no bandititos around. When you next hear "Bandits at 7-o'clock, etc", then press the secondary again.

Tip 2: When your manning a gun (other than a waist gun), use Numpad buttons 4 and 5 to look left and right. This gives you a wider view and allows you to anticipate bandits crossing your line of fire.

Oh, and go easy with those guns or you'll have someone's eye out!!

True!

Did you know you can also jump to where the gunnery action is best while in external view (ie, viewing the plane from outside). Just press the secondary button on the joystick whenever a comment comes up in red regarding bandits.

Also after you press the secondary button, if you feel a bit lost, (especially in the top or ball turret) quickly tap the 'm' key and the gun will track towards the bandit. This orientates you very fast, and you can take over the position again and blast away to your hearts content!

I wonder...I'm not the only one who has 4 second delays between switching positions.
This stoped me from using the button, and now I stay in one turret and try to hit what ever gets in my way.

are u faster switching views?

Looks like the first view swithces take several seconds but later they happen instantly. Memory thing, I guess.

I find pressing a # and M much faster than clicking on text or icons for view changes, especially if you can program them on a hat switch. Graphics detail and res seems to affect it too.

Could someone please clarify the "secondary" button for me? Is it a command in the game, because I can't find it on the reference card.

Thanks.

XDukeX!

The "secondary button" means the second button on your joystick.

For clarification, what command would the "secondary button" be mapped to? Alternatively, what command carries out this function?

Kilgore!

I didn´t have to appoint that function to the secondary button, it was appointed by default.
