CFS2 seems to have a good flight model and graphics, however...

Does anyone else find the mission goals a bit false? I'm on a mission at
the moment where you have to inflict 20% damage on the carrier Shoho,
and shoot down at least one fighter. Surely the goals should be for your
entire flight, not just for you.

I did damage the carrier, but by the time I did my wingmen had mopped up
the Zeros.

Is there any way of ordering your flight to attack the carrier? You
can't seem to padlock anything other than planes.

On another occasion there was one Jap plane left, but he was circling
out of range and ran off whenever I tried to get close to him.

All in all, a bit frustrating.

**You can easily change the goals to your liking in the Mission Builder.

**You can padlock anything considered the 'enemy'. You can then issue the 'attack' order and your wingmen WILL attack. Check the manual on pages 132-133.

The campaign missions are unrealistic. Edit them or you are going to waste a lot of time.

For instance...

3rd mission in the US campaign- goal is to shoot down 4 enemy planes and damage the carrier

First of all, having a mission hinge on shooting down 4 planes is unrealistic to begin with. On top of that, if your wingmen shoot down any part of that 4, the mission is a failure. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Thanks for the advice, but does anyone else find it a bit disturbing that you have to edit the missions to balance the gameplay properly and provide realistic mission goals?

I enjoy single player missions as a challenge between me and the game designer. If I can edit the missions, all that becomes meaningless.

It's a shame as the flying and fighting in CFS2 is good.
