I've got a Prophet 32 DDR and I'm running the 3.77 drivers from Hercules. I get black planes in cfs2 sometimes. Hercules has a newer version 5x driver and I also hear about going directly to invidia for the 6.18
I have heard complaints about some of the new drivers. What should I do?

Thanks in advance

Try the detonator 3 drivers at: http://www.3dchipset.com/drivers/nvidia/nvidia.html
I think I read in one of the readmes to get the latest drivers, so give these a try

If your vid-card has additional featueres like TV-out or video in/out, I think you should use the latest drivers of your card's manufacturer. If it has not (like mine: ASUS V6800) go to NVIDIA.com and d/l the Detonator 3 v6.31, I think these are the latest official reference-drivers (the manufacturers drives are enhanced to support add. features, imho the NVIDIA drivers are not). If you want to take the risk, d/l beta drivers (I think Det3 v6.35 are the latest) from reactorcritical.com

Greetings
TBird

I have a GTS2 64mb and I am using the latest, 6.47, beta drivers. There is very little risk in using beta drivers, as opposed to say, beta DirectX 8. When you switch drivers, make sure you change your current driver to standard VGA first, then reboot and install the new drivers. A bit of a hassle, but makes for a nice clean install. Don't be too afraid of beta drivers, you can always switch back. There is a huge difference in performance with the latest 6xx drivers compared to what you are running now. Let me know if you have more questions

Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not an uneventful upgrade!

After going well for a bit with the prophet 5.22 drivers I ran smack into the BSOD (blue screen of death) and could not run CFS2 at all! Re-installed both drivers and cfs2, no diff. finally I reduced my agp aperture to 64 mb from 256 and they work.

I got my new Geforce2 64mg GTS card today. I'm gonna have the newest 532 drivers from the Hercules site installed on it, I think? I got DVD player, TV card and plan to hook up to BigScreen TV also, so I guess that's the conservative approach. Anybody using the 532s from the Hercules site?? Any problems??

5.32 looks good and shows faster framerates on my system (see above) then the latest 6.34 detonator, however if you have problems:
1) play with your agp apeture in the bios
2) play with you display settings
3) try the 3.77 drivers - they do show black planes in cfs2 sometimes but are very stable.

I just loaded up 6.47 (beta) and it seems stable and a bit quicker than 6.31.
edit: Char - I used Hercules' v5.22 for quite some time, but I believe you'll find the nVidia reference drivers faster, especially as they haven't issued new drivers in quite some time. Clean out the old drivers (add/remove programs) and start fresh with 6.31 Detonator 3.

maybe I'm not cleaned out enough to make the 6.47 really rock.

I have this screensaver "testfish" that measures framerates with a bunch of fish swimming around in various resolutions. I droped about 10fps from 100 to 87 with the 6.47 But it looks good. Thanks for all your help.

Or alternatively

You may have vsynch toggled ON (new drivers tend to do their own thing) - and you may be at 85Hz refresh...

Try with vsynch toggled off from the panel if that's the case.

Ming out.

I can't speak for other mobo's but with the Asus P3V4X the latest drivers and BIOS made a HUGE difference.
The mobo is very often overlooked when optimising one's system. A combination of the VIA 4.24 mobo drivers, BIOS 1005 and Ge-Force Fast-Trax drivers 5.32 gave me an additional 1400-1600 3D-Marks. The 4.24 alone accounted for around 800 of those.
