What kind of system will I need to run this bad boy with all visuals cranked at 1024x768? I curently have a GeForce based P3 800 and get some slow down in FS2000 which is the same engine but minus the explosions, fire, smoke etc... so Im kinda worried.

from what I've read they're not using exactly the same engine as FS2k (apparently its a different code path branched off prior to FS's release) - the scenery rendering has also apparently been significantly improved (and that was a major frame rate killer in FS2k).
BTW is your geforce an SDR or DDR version? I've got a geforce2 (32mb DDR) and the other day I maxed out all the graphics options in FS2k for a laugh and it didn't do anything - played as smoothly as ever!
having slower SDR ram on your graphics card is a real killer compared to DDR - at least until we start seeing alternative graphics hardware rendering architectures to the traditional brute force pipeline that most manufacturers are following...

I get about 40ish in the cockpit on a pIII800 radeon at 1024x768x32 bit color in combat flight sim 2. On a similar system with a geforce I get about 33ish or so in 16bit color, a bit less in 32 bit. Keep in mind it's silky smooth until about 15fps. Think i held about 18-25 with maybe 20-30 planes near me.
